I recently visited the Aagrah Kashmir Indian restaurant in Bilbrough Top, just outside of York, while staying at the nearby Premier Inn on the A64. Due to the busy on-site restaurant, I decided to take a short 10-minute walk to Aagrah Kashmir. I was pleasantly surprised by how busy the restaurant was on a weekday evening. The staff, including Gazza the manager and the young man who served me, were excellent. I ordered the sizzling Shahi chicken with peppers, paprika, and garlic, and it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this hidden gem, especially for those staying at the nearby Premier Inn. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!

When visiting Aagrah, guests are recommended to combine travel and gastronomy, as an early meal is necessary before heading to the accommodation. On this particular evening, there was a buffet available which was tried and found to be excellent with well-cooked dishes, a variety of choices, and friendly staff. The value was great and I would recommend it at any time. The main menu also looked impressive in the restaurant's environment.

The service was excellent once again, with very friendly staff. I decided to try something different tonight and ordered the mixed grill. It included kebab, tandoori chicken, minced meat, cod, rice, and vegetables. The portion was so generous that I would suggest skipping a starter or sharing one. I can't fault this restaurant, although I wish it would open in Birmingham in the future.

OK, the staff are very friendly, the restaurant is pleasant and comfortable, with plenty of parking and the food is really tasty. However, what let it down for me was how the buffet tureens were allowed to empty and not be re-filled. Most of them...were left without any meat, just a bit of sauce! The staff didn't seem interested in keeping them topped up. In fact there wasn't much food in the tureens to start with and some of the lids were broken. Eat as much as you like' became Eat whatever's left'. Sorry Aagrah, just not good enough.
