Was Anonym at Wa'z Seattle a mag?
my 2nd visit of the year for autumn menu. the chief and assistent remembered my nutritional restrictions, although I did not specify. they also gave me a bliss board and flowers for my celebration. love it! will come again for the summer next year View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Wa'z Seattle:
Taste is fine but not much dedication to food details customers. The popular dish oyster wrapped with Wagyu I tasted pieces of oyster shells.. The food portion is 5 5 but I?m willing to trade quality with quantity. Nothing really kicks my taste bud not even the Uni. It?s like a regular Japanese cuisine that?s much cheaper than $200 per person. Also dining environment is a bit noisy so it?s kinda hard to hear chef and... View all feedback.
A beautiful experience kaiseki style. all ingredients are really fresh. the last court before dessert and dessert are the best. others that we have, or maybe I have expected too much.
I've been fan of waz for about a year. Despite some mixed reviews, my previous 4 visits are all great. chef hiro is beautiful and well maintained. Although the other 2 cooks do not interact with customers much, the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. However, my new visit is far below the cash for $195, after tip/tax issued $595 for three people). for this visit I can rate it over 2 stars. reason to give 3 stars are due to my previous good visits. funny is that my other three friends visited a few days ago and they were not happy, but I did not decide to believe them and keep my reservation. 1. zimmertemp is a little cool when the regular plate is served wagyu oysters, it is already cold 2. the second cursor was prefabricated before each is taken place. it is ok for some court of course, but for fried mais it became oily and not crispy, not to mention the cold wagyu 3. the duck breast and nasu suppe is not well done, it feels like I eat two dinge separately. the taste was not mixed or formed a large chemistry. the suppe also lacks taste. 4. sockey lachs as sashimi court is lacking for safe 5. the rice is very hard and the fish lacks taste. I had at least expected that the toro is great, but it is not fat or melt in my mouse either...and not to mention that they made all 5 pieces for all customers and then serve them at the same time...Sushi does not taste good after it on the board for 20mins....not acceptable for counterseats....also i love sushi omakase serves sushi piece for piece. 6. ochazuke: emmm, I didn't expect anything dissatisfaction from a court just like ochazuke, but the wagyu in the court is too sweet. 7. My other friend was already very full and left some tear of sushi on the teller, but that wasn't picked up or visited by chef or wine. I really hope that wa’z can improve the future monthly menu rotation as I liked a lot.
A little bit of Kyoto here in our backyard! My husband and I were so happy to find this gem. We've had kaiseki before in Kyoto and Wa'z does not disappoint. The ambience is minimalistic which allows you to really focus on the food. I highly recommend doing the chef's counter for the best experience. It was fantastic to see Chef Hiro and his team meticulously make each dish like a beautifully choreographed performance. I enjoyed learning about the cultural significance of each of the dishes. Each is carefully curated and brings out the essence of the traditional ingredients. We will definitely be back to try his next menu!
The food has high quality, thoughtful craftsmanship, and all the details that make the experience special. This is also a Japanese restaurant actually operated by a Japanese chef, not by Chinese, Korean, or other ethnicities. There’s nothing wrong with the latter, but it can make the experience feel less authentic. We paid $300 per person including sake pairings, tax, and tip, which is definitely not cheap and not really worth it compared to what you can get in Asia (or Vancouver or NYC). But we accept that this is a general Seattle problem. While the service had some hiccups and definitely lacked the small customer-focused details you’d expect in fine dining and in Japanese culture, I also want to recognize that it’s a small restaurant with a limited number of staff. Everyone worked really hard, was clearly busy, and genuinely cared, so it still feels good to support them. The only thing I didn’t love is the 20% service charge added before tax, which definitely makes the bill higher compared to the usual 20% tip. Highly recommend reserve a seat at the counter top. the experience will not be worth it if you seat at the normal dining table. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
It was a great kaiseki experience. The food presentation and the tableware were incredibly beautiful and detailed, and you could really tell how much thought and care went into every dish. The dishes themselves were unique and not something you come across often, which made the experience interesting and fun. That said, in terms of flavor, it did not quite meet my personal expectations, so that part was a bit disappointing. As someone who truly loves sushi, the sushi and sashimi were not my favorites, including the sushi rice. The okoge ankake was my least favorite dish. However, my friends really enjoyed the meal, and we still had a lovely dinner together. The service was excellent, and overall, it was a very good experience. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
