Easily my favourite restaurant in Seattle. Cannot say enough good things about this beautiful place. The delicious and unique food crafted with such attention to detail paired with personal touches make it the best restaurant in Seattle. Have had two very memorable meals here with my husband including one on my first wedding anniversary. Thank you to Chef Aaron and his entire team. Sarah was so helpful and lovely during both visits. Absolutely love this place and I cannot wait to revisit it.
Really one of our all-time great experiences. Chef Aaron Tekulve and his team are magicians with local, fresh ingredients. The restaurant is in a cute house, nestled in a residential neighborhood, so their kitchen is modest. It's even more amazing that they can crank out such high end food in such a tiny space. The presentations are thoughtful but not pretentious, and each bite was well balanced. Somm Griffin did a masterful job pairing Washington State wines with each dish.
What a wonderful experience we had. The food was incredible some of the best food and dining experiences we've had. The service was amazing we were so lucky to sit at the chef's counter and had the chance to talk to Chef Aaron to learn more about what he and his team prepared and what inspired him with the different ingredients he used. Thank you for a lovely and memorable evening, we will be coming back!
We absolutely loved our experience at Surrell. Everything was done so thoughfully. The coffee cart on the way out the door was the perfect final touch!I genuinely cannot understand how someone could criticize the food. I loved every bite— even the things that I would not usually be drawn to. We both got the non-alcoholic pairing, and the mocktails were creative and delicious! We didn’t miss the booze at all. So grateful to have this spot nearby for future fancy pants date nights.Vegetarian options: I requested a sample vegetarian menu for a friend, and she was very happy to see filling and creative options. Not the generic vegetarian stuff!Dietary restrictions: The restaurant gives the option to request accommodations in advance of arrival.
Wow. I can’t say enough great things about this place. It’s mind-boggling that it wasn’t packed on a Thursday. In my opinion, Surrell rivals the French Laundry. Michelin may have never visited Seattle, but this spot truly delivers. Exceptional service, incredible food, and an amazing atmosphere. And the music? Absolutely fantastic. Do yourself a favor and go. Now.
Nestled in a charming house, this inventive restaurant offers artistic presentation, attentive service, and thoughtful wine pairings. Chef Aaron Tekulve’s rotating tasting menus highlight local ingredients and clever plating, making it ideal for celebrations and intimate nights out. Diners praise personalized hospitality and memorable dishes, though opinions split on seasoning—some find flavors brilliantly bold while others describe them as overly intense, salty or sweet. Overall, the cozy setting, outdoor seating and accommodating staff create a distinctive fine-dining experience.

The service, presentation, and staff were outstanding—truly creative and artistic. I also enjoyed the poetic menu! However, I found the food to be quite disappointing. Every dish, from the appetizer to the dessert, was overwhelmingly salty and sweet. If you appreciate strong flavors, this might appeal to you, but for me, it definitely lacked subtlety.
The staff was incredible! The atmosphere was both inviting and cozy. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and the overall setup was visually impressive. The dishes were quite innovative. One standout was a salad served directly on the rice paper menu—such a unique idea! The flavors were quite intense and a bit overwhelming, making it necessary to eat quickly to avoid lingering tastes. Many of the dishes had a sour profile and were heavy on the olive oil. I was puzzled to find olive oil used in a dessert. It seems there's a reason they're asking for payment upfront.
We had an incredible experience at the whole tomato dinner! The outdoor setting was stunning, and our server was not only enthusiastic but also a pleasure to engage with. The personalized touch made the dining experience even more special, and the food was absolutely delicious. We opted for the wine pairing, which complemented the dishes perfectly. They also accommodated my dining partner's dietary restrictions by providing a gluten-free flatbread, which we greatly appreciated. We will definitely be returning!
Amazing tasting menu! The presentation is some of the best I see outside Japan. If possible choose the special topics (I chose tomatoes, but there are mushrooms, squash etc.). Everything was great and very creative. The cooking table would be my preference. You have vegetarian option so that?s also wonderful.
Had an amazing time doing the tasting menu and wine pairing! The food was fantastic, very well thought out and presented wonderfully. The wines (all from Washington wineries) were all great and paired beautifully with the food. Service was spectacular as well, from the glass of sparkling wine as we arrived to the preparation of the salad on the edible menu at the table, and of course the servers wonderful explanations of the dishes and wines. Would highly recommend this experience for a special occasion or if you just want to really treat yourself!

Service, présentation and staff was amazing. Very creative and artistic. I loved the poetic menu too! However the food was extremely disappointing. Extremely salty and sweet (every single dish from start to desert). If you like very strong flavors youwill like it but to my palate it definetely lacked subtlety.
We went for the all tomato dinner and had an amazing time! The outdoor space is beautiful and our server was very enthusiastic and lovely to talk to. The experience felt very personalized and all of the food was delicious we also got the wine pairingand it matched the food very well. They were able to accommodate my dining partner’s dietary restrictions and even providedher with a gluten free flatbread which was greatly appreciated. We will definitely be back!

The staff was amazing!! It felt very welcoming and homey. The food was also beautifully plated and the set up was visually stunning. The dishes were quite creative. There was one salad that was plated literally on the menu which was made of ricepaper, but flavour wise it was “toooooo” creative. The flavours were very chaotic and I really had to eat fast so the tastedon’t stay long. Most dishes were sour and loaded with olive oil. Why is the olive oil in a dessert?? There’s probably areason where they charge you before dining.

Celebrated a birthday here and cannot recommend enough! From beginning to end it was an absolutely wonderful and charming experience. No other restaurant has ever opened the evening with a poem and flower arrangement to start the night and a warmed coat to wrap it up. We thought the food was unique and highly creative and appreciated how seasonal and locally focused they were, I don't think I have ever had such a wide and varied array of mushroom focused dishes served in a single meal before. We really enjoyed the attention to detail and fun extra surprises and treats they planned for us. Their wine selection was small but well curated as we really loved the glass we were served. Some of our favorite courses included this cauliflower mushroom pasta where the mushroom was the pasta noodles and also the trio of small bites which included a scallop, dungeness crab bite, and a cone with mushroom inside. We also had multiple desserts including a porcini ice cream and a lychee cotton candy treat with pop rocks and chocolate inside. Fantastic experience in May! Enjoyed the ambiance, the food, and the staff! I had the privilege to sit at the bar and interact with the chefs and the owner. The food and Washington wine pairings were fantastic. The attention to detail regarding the menu and flower bouquet were nice touches, which you don’t see at other restaurants. My favorite tasting menu spot in Seattle. And the best mocktail pairings I've tried so far! (Shout out Miles, very entertaining explanations of the delicious drinks he mixed . We were greeted at the door with our choice of a hot cider or mulled wine to warm up from the cool weather outside (both very tasty , and our host Lindsey was so kind and welcoming, as if we hadn't shown up 20 minutes late. After being handed a small bouquet and a cute poem written by one of the staff, we were quickly caught up on courses, and Kit came over to explain what we had in front of us so we didn't miss out. For a tasting menu, I'm happy if I actively like at least two or three courses, since what I'm really seeking is novelty and a pleasant way to pass the evening... but at Surrell, most every dish was straight up my alley. Even what few items weren't my favorite were never boring, and I was constantly entertained and delighted both by the flavors and presentation of the dishes. There were two (and a half desert courses, both very creative and incredibly good. They finished us off with the unofficial last bites, I think little cotton candy coated dark chocolate morsels (with pop rocks inside!? , as a thank you gift along with a little gift bag containing two bags of granola, a handwritten card, and a menu of what we ate. I absolutely loved the aesthetic: dark teal and wood tones, with soft low lighting, bookshelves, and forest themed decor created by the owner and his mom. It was very quiet and peaceful inside, despite a full house with every table taken. The bar seating was very comfortable, and it was fun to watch the chefs prepare every dish, really adding to the anticipation. We were surprised by how calm it seemed in the kitchen too, though they produced the many dishes very efficiently, and the pacing of courses was perfect. We got lucky and managed to find residential street parking nearby, but you might want to grab an uber if you don't want to risk a bit of a walk. We will definitely be repeat customers here, I highly recommend a visit! Dietary restrictions: You can select your restrictions when ordering and reserving online, they are very accommodating.
