Love having a fine dining option in Scottsville!! We visit our family farm in the area from Richmond. Had the shrimp risotto and kale salad and both were delicious. I don’t like kale either. Staff was attentive and friendly and the ambience was very nice and featured cool paintings of the area! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 View all feedback.
What Patricia Ghazarian doesn't like about The Batteau, Restaurant Wine Bar:
We ordered take out. The portions were very, very small. The cost was about 80$. We had 2 boxes, he got the shrimp and pork dish, there was barely and pork or shrimp, i had the crabcake dinner, incredibly small crabcake with rice. We are local and tried to have dinner there last year and never got waited on, thought we'd try it again, and have to say, very disappointed, again. View all feedback.
My family is new to the Scottsville area. With so few local dining options, and even fewer that were open, we decided to give the Batteau a try. While the food was good, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff was pleasant, it is unlikely we will be return customers. The menu is not family friendly as there were no options for children. The portion sizes are also not what we expected for the price. I also feel misled by the menu. We ordered the Batteau Burger, which comes with Batteau Fries. Batteau Fries, according to their appetizer menu, are supposed to come with an aioli sauce, but the batteau fries that accompanied our burgers did not. When we pointed this out we were disappointed to learn that we could add aioli for an upcharge. The burger entrée is already 18 dollars without an upcharge, and while it is a tasty dish, it was just not worth it in my opinion. Overall it was an underwhelming experience. We left with much lighter wallets and bellies than we anticipated.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all

Stopped for lunch. Very pleasant atmosphere, friendly owner, and really tasty food. Will come again, for sure.
What a surprising find. Birthday dinner. Friendly staff, perfect risotto, quaint setting, closer than Charlottesville.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian mushroom risotto. Risotto cooked perfectly.
The batteau is a great little spot but in my opinion suffers from a problem a lot of small towns do. It purports to be, and charges as, fine dining with an extensive wine selection... but falls short on the promise. Its got a fantastic burger and a mediocre steak. You might get swordfish but its a bit off and top tier pricing. It is good... it's really good. It just falls short of the mark for the money. Still it is our fanciest restaurant.
