El Taco Shack - Schoharie

We stopped here after we picked up a sofa from a charity shop and we are so happy to support a local business! There were four vegan basic options on the menu when we went (no Jackfruit). We have three beyond meat tacos and three tofu. The well-maintained onions were absolutely fantastic and we also liked the Salsas. The guacamole was fine, but was very sour to prevent it from browning. My toddler really enjoyed the tofu! The only problem I really had was that all basic options are held next to each other, so there could be some cross-contamination, so if you are really strict, this cannot be the place for you. They kept the vegan options to the customer, but so it is less likely non-vegan options to fall into these tubs.

100% legit food, service, and space are all excellent. If you like Mexican food, you’ll love this place.

I took my vegetarian son to this restaurant, and he absolutely loved the jackfruit dish. My personal favorite is the ahi tuna taco. A quick tip: if you order the tuna tacos, be sure to ask for the wasabi aioli they keep under the counter—it's amazing!

Options are limited in Schoharie County, which is why El Taco Shack receives a lot of our patronage. I appreciate that they offer a choice between beef and tofu, along with more topping options than the chain restaurants. The portion sizes are substantial, so if you tend to finish your entire burrito regardless of how full you feel, you might want to inform your server. They also have wonderful terrace seating in the back for pleasant days. We've never had issues finding a seat either inside or outside!

Great food and friendly staff! We opted for takeout for dinner, and it was a delightful experience. The price per person ranged from $10 to $20, which is quite reasonable. I would rate the food a perfect 5, the service a solid 5, and the atmosphere also a 5. I highly recommend trying the Quesadilla and Burrito Bowl!
