Description

A beloved hometown diner known for generous, comforting breakfasts and lunches, attentive friendly service, and standout cakes. Its nostalgic architecture and cozy, old-school vibe drew families, road-trippers and regulars; portions are hearty, eggs light, fries praised, and restrooms impeccably clean. Staff frequently went above and beyond—occasionally offering birthday treats—making visits warm and memorable. After decades as a community staple, the long-running spot is closing, leaving fond memories of great food and genuine hospitality.

What is joy, my wife and I stopped on Saturday and had lunch, we enjoyed it so much we decided to go back on Monday (13 September, my birthday), we ordered fish chips and cakes for my birthday. The waitress told me as it was my birthday, my meal was free!! Not only my food, but also my cake. Everything was exceptional (we couldn't eat all the frits, so Pam our waitress told us the best way to heat them). Service 5 stars, food 5 stars together with the atmosphere, best of all people it has some of the cleanest rest rooms I was in. I am a retired Executive Housekeeper and I was impressed!! Thanks for the experience.

Excellent food, outstanding service, and even more amazing cakes! I was pleasantly surprised by the unique architecture and decor. It has an old-school diner vibe with a cozy, hometown atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!

The atmosphere was fantastic, and the staff were very friendly. Our server, Leah, was exceptionally attentive and pleasant. The food was delicious and served in generous portions. I will definitely return when I’m in the area.

We just learned that Panhandler is closing its doors. To be completely honest, I worked at Panhandler in the 90s, and it was an excellent place to serve genuine food. Rex was a true asset to the community, and he will be greatly missed. Thank you, Panhandler, for all the wonderful memories! On a personal note, Rex, take some time to rest, and best of luck for the future!

Stopped in for lunch on a rainy day. Our waitress did a great job helping to get food quickly to my family. Chose mostly breakfasts items and a PB&J for one of the kiddos. Dang those fries were perfect! Eggs were light and fluffy. Mostly comfort food on the menu with some healthier choices blended in.
