A tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. The dishes are delicate, vibrant, and bursting with flavour.

I absolutely loved everything about Onsen. The fact that it is connected to a modern bathhouse gives it a unique Japanese feel. The menu is expertly crafted with delicious izakaya dishes and an impressive selection of sake. This restaurant is a hidden gem in San Francisco!

A friend visiting from New York City was in town, and I had always been curious about this restaurant. I highly recommend doing the soak before dinner (about an hour and a half before) as it will leave you feeling relaxed and calm. The food was a bit expensive for the portion size, but it was incredibly delicious and worth the price. You absolutely have to try the wontons - they were so good that we could have easily devoured a whole order each.

Onsen is an exceptional find in the heart of the tenderloin. A true gem. This one of a kind restaurant offers everything that one can expect in an eclectic Japanese setting. And the food is delicious. I also enjoyed the sake flight.

Onsen is the perfect place to unwind at the end of a busy day or week with a group of friends or a special someone. I highly recommend you check it out. We went after work on a Friday and made 6:15pm reservations for the spa and 8:00pm dinner reservations. The food, service and spa were all impeccable.
