Was Mario Salinas at Omakase a mag?
This was my first true Omakase experience in the U.S. Definitely worth the price. The only other place you can find something as authentic is in Japan. awesome ambiance and what stood out the most to me was how detailed the owner was with everything from the serving dishes to the sake carafe. What Nykema dislikes about Omakase:
Mid, Basic, and could be waybetter for the price: The server and chef were awesome. Great vibe and comfortable. The music was a nice instrumental of pop, rap and r&b music. There were so many courses, that you should come with an empty stomach. You will not leave hungry. However the dishes were just so so. Nothing to write home about. Nothing instagram worthy. Chef Jackson delivered us an INCREDIBLE meal! I made reservations 2 weeks in advance for a Sunday night 8:30pm reservation and got sat at the bar.
My husband and I were flying into SFO and decided last minute to go for dinner upon arrival. We made a reservation online for 8:30pm, but our flight was delayed due to bad weather. We updated Omakase via text message and they rescheduled our reservation for 9pm. However, our luggage did not arrive with us and we informed Omakase that we would not be able to make it due to not having appropriate attire. Despite our efforts to communicate our situation, there was little response from Omakase. Eventually, they offered to reschedule for another date, but we declined as we were traveling to a wedding in Napa. Our credit card was charged the full amount of $725.78 CAN for two tasting menus. We are now considering legal action as we can prove our flight was delayed and our luggage did not arrive until the following day. This kind of service is unacceptable and we hope Omakase will rectify the situation. Otherwise, we caution others against booking reservations with them.
