Reservation request for Omakase
Feedback
My husband and I were flying into SFO and decided last minute to go for dinner upon arrival. We made a reservation online for 8:30pm, but our flight was delayed due to bad weather. We updated Omakase via text message and they rescheduled our reservation for 9pm. However, our luggage did not arrive with us and we informed Omakase that we would not be able to make it due to not having appropriate attire. Despite our efforts to communicate our situation, there was little response from Omakase. Eventually, they offered to reschedule for another date, but we declined as we were traveling to a wedding in Napa. Our credit card was charged the full amount of $725.78 CAN for two tasting menus. We are now considering legal action as we can prove our flight was delayed and our luggage did not arrive until the following day. This kind of service is unacceptable and we hope Omakase will rectify the situation. Otherwise, we caution others against booking reservations with them.
Experiencing perfection served to you on plate after plate was delightful. It reminded me of the top sushi places we visited in Tokyo recently. JOY
The restaurant offers an intimate atmosphere with seating only at the chef's counter. Each course was simple yet creative and incredibly fresh. The menu is set, but you have the option to order extra dishes at the end if desired. We were served a variety of fish dishes, including some I had never tried before, as well as upscale versions of favorites such as three courses of tuna nigiri, progressively fattier, lightly seared wagyu, and a delicate, crispy tamago. The sake pairings were generous and excellently matched, with a sake expert on hand to explain each offering. While on the pricier side, the omakase experience is definitely worth saving up for. I look forward to returning and thank the staff for an unforgettable evening.
Upon entering I felt mislead by the servers when it came to requesting water. I was asked if I wanted still or San Francisco’s finest. Not knowing San Francisco’s finest was tap water, I said still and was charged $15. Whatever, just didn’t expect a high-end restaurant with a Michelin star to use deceptive tactics like this to upsell. A little disappointing. Their Omakase was just okay. Mainly nigiri was served and I felt like the other courses/dishes lacked innovation. Chef Kaoru was super nice and interactive, probably the highlight of our dining experience.
So my cousin and I went here for my birthday dinner. The experience was great. We were wonderfully over dressed so we definitely made a night of it. The sake paring was amazing over indulgent but amazing. And, the environment was quiet, chill and the service was enjoyable. We didn’t regret spending several hundred dollars at the end of the evening, so I’d say that it’s 5 star!
