We chose this restaurant based on a good experience several years ago, but both the food and service have clearly deteriorated. The beef tartare was soaked in vinegar meat no longer looked fresh or properly raw making it inedible and raising concerns about food safety. The parsnip soup was bland and tasteless, aside from a few fried pine nuts. This place was the best find around all the venues in the area. The service was stellar, and the staff acknowledged our timeline and made sure we were out in time for the ballet. Don't pass up the beef tartare, so flavorful. I had the homemade tagateilli, it was light and flavorful. The carrot cake at the end was superb, the only downside was I wanted more! The ambiance in the little round booths was perfect for date night! Don't hesitate to book if your off to the opera, ballet or theater! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The menu is fit for Foodies, creative and over a wonderful blend of flavors. The wine offerings by the glass is short but really quality wines from CA, France and often other regions. Did not have time for desert, but the menu was very tempting. I have never been disappointed Absinthe Brasserie Bar. I have had private events, lovely dining, and special occasions all outstanding.

The food choices are not great. There is only one plain salad option and they do not have my favorite dish, coq au Vin. They also require a credit card to dine. The restaurant used to be more popular when they served absinthe. They should consider revamping their menu.
