I really didn't want to go eat here for breakfast and didn't expect much. To my surprise we both loved our breakfast, hot chocolate is the best and the prices are pretty good!!. Lots of parking, easy to find. You have to go order yourself as they don't go to the tables. Worth the detour. Dont forget to ask for the house bread/toast!! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Friterie:
J'y suis allé plusieurs fois pour déjeuner mais d'une fois à l'autre la qualité se dégradait. Pour finir avec des patates congelés à peine cuite je n'arrivais même pas à piquer la fourchette dedans. Et des saucisses qui m'ont rendus malade pas fraîches. Bref, peut-être pour de la crème glacée en été mais certainement pas pour un repas... View all feedback.
I would recommend this charming, eccentric neighborhood restaurant for its straightforward and delicious menu options.
We decided to grab a burger and poutine for a quick snack.
This is a friendly, unpretentious place and you really can roll the die to win your meal (you need to roll a double six - a 1/36 chance). The burgers are great if you are a fan of an honest, basic cheeseburger with the works. No special sauce, no frozen patties, and pretty flat buns - the kind of honest burger everyone craves once in a while. The fries on the other hand are somewhat limp - I took my meal to go which meant I ate them some 10 minutes later, so that likely had an effect. The taste of the fries did not impress me to the extent that if I returned, I'd likely order the burgers and skip the fries. This said, as someone who spent much of my adult life living in Belgium - where "french" fries were invented, the bar is set pretty high. These fries are more authentic than anything you'll get at a chain restaurant (except maybe Harvey's), but these are not Bintje potatoes twice fried in vegetable oil flavored with hazelnut oil the way you'll find them at a "friterie" off the E42 outside Namur. The restaurant is clean with ample seating and equally ample parking. This is a family business and it shows in the warmth of the welcome.
