Mission BBQ - Roanoke

After trying to find somewhere for dinner in Roanoke, we decided on Mission BBQ since we were hungry after hiking McAfee Knob and bbq sounded great.

Decent, if not great BBQ joint in Roanoke that serves up Carolina style barbecue.

Excellent BBQ joint in the Towers shopping mallI recommend the jalapeño cheddar smoked sausage, the spare ribs, and lastly the brisket.

I am usually not in the habit of reviewing a chain but this one was good enough that I thought I would. Right away the smell was great. Walked in at lunch and the place was packed. Another good sign. The line was moving pretty fast so decided to give it a whirl. Went basic with the pulled pork sandwich and fries. A sweet tea and sat down. Called my number pretty quickly. The fact that it was a chain truthfully had my expectations a little lower. They were incorrect. The sandwich was very proportional to the cost and the bun appeared very fresh. A quick fork full and the smoke, pinkish center and outside bark were a welcome sight. They have 6 sauces on the table and my favorites were Smoky MT and the Memphis Belle. Basic fries that were ok. $10.85 tax included for fries and drink Visited the restroom and it was clean and appeared to be maintained. If in the area and need some quick que. This is not a bad choice for a chain.

Cool setup at this place. I like the military inspired theme going in there. Limited menu. Had the brisket which was excellent and tried most if not all of their BBQ sauces, which too were overall tasty. Good sweet tea. Not cheap. I'd recommend giving it a go.
