I... read more This remains what I consider to be the best restaurant in Roanoke. I just have one bone to pick: I made my reservation well over a month ago, for two people. I was seated next to two other couples, both of which had a full (4 top) table, however mine was a lower 2 top. I asked if it could be changed and was told no. How do you get the good table? Moving on our server, whose name I don't recall, was the quintessential professional server. She has perfect timing, perfect helpfulness and knowledge, and of all the servers I've encountered in this town, would win the most valuable award. Having staff like this is a value high above rubies. She even suggested the perfect wine to accompany the shrimp. We started with the California roll, which was almost a meal in itself. The wasabi was an extra treat. I ordered duck, because it came with spinach, and it was hard to choose. It was so absolutely delicious the ginger seasonings were amazing. (I'm at a loss for words, honestly); perfectly cooked as ordered, and tender and juicy. My companion had the shrimp saute, and from her facial expressions I knew it was good! Even their coffee is great. A perfect Birthday evening.

Restaurant closes at 10pm, walked in a 935pm for a quick dessert to go, because it seemed like it would have been a good late night snack on the way up back to... read more Restaurant closes at 10pm, walked in a 935pm for a quick dessert to go, because it seemed like it would have been a good late night snack on the way up back to my room As the lady was explaining the options to me, the red headed guy (assuming themanager) quickly cut her off with, “ let me handle this, the kitchen is closed.” I passed by there numerous times sinceThursday and have yet to see the restaurant at full capacity. Shame on that guy for being such a “Richard” and turning downeasy money.

I'm a blue collar HVAC worker and always feel welcomed when dinning there. The staff are always friendly and very accommodating and make sure you are well taking careoff. Yes, the food is on the pricey side but it is well worth it. I had the carpet bagger last night and it was absolutelydelicious and worth the price. I was full and still wanted more. So, to the people who are saying the portion sizes are small.They are actually really generous with their portion sizes. They serve average portion sizes for the average person. If you wantMcDonald's portion sizes go to McDonald's, but you will not get the quality or taste that you get here. They already use highquality ingredients that aren't cheap for them to produce high quality food for you. I would definitely recommend going toAlexander's for the food and the staff, and the feeling of leaving satisfied.
