Was Anonym at Wilson's a mag?
What a great treat to have really good Lebanese food. The mezze starter was to die for and the main courses were great. Our daughter had the vegetarian egg plant dish which was really tasty. I had a lamb dish which was also great. The staff were really helpful. The place does sell wine but is also BYO View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Wilson's:
The only thing close to Lebanese about this place is probably the owners. The food is nowhere close to authentic Lebanese and the food is not even close to to other Lebanese restaurants. We ordered the meat platter and our first reaction was underwhelming for the size. The taste was average. The next dish was the chicken shawarma on a plate. This was absolute let down. The rice was plain jasmine rice ( Asian) and what appeared to be stir fried chicken. We couldn't complete the meal as it didn't taste good. We were excited to try this place and the prices on the menu seemed quite reasonable by Sydney standards and now we know why. The price compliments the food. As a Lebanese cuisine lover, this place was a let down.
I have been dining at Wilson's for over 30 years now and the food is both delicious and authentic. I used to live in the area, so have been to most of the Lebanese restaurants in Cleveland St and I've never had better food at any of them. If having swish decor is important then it may not be for you - the interior has remained essentially unchanged in all the time I've been going there -but if the deliciousness of the food is key, it's perfect. The fried cauliflower and chicken shwarma are superb and I recently tried an eggplant tomato dish which is a new favourite. Our family of five love it!
The restaurant offers a beautiful and diverse food selection. The service is exceptional, making you feel right at home. Our bill came out to $92 per couple, which is quite reasonable for a meal of this quality. We appreciated the fact that the staff didn't rush us out, even though we were the last ones there. My only suggestion would be for the restaurant to consider including dessert in their banquet option and raising the price by $5. This establishment is known as Sydney's oldest Lebanese restaurant and deserves recognition.
This might be the oldest Lebanese restaurant in Sydney, and it took me a while to finally try it. But it was definitely worth it. The meat was juicy, the falafel was rich, and the staff was excellent. The menu was standard, but it felt like they had mastered everything. We enjoyed our meal at a reasonable price.
