What Kevon Adams doesn't like about Cafe Oratnek:
my man had a nice meal, but as a gluten-free person it was very average. we were told that the sandwich islands were not gf, although the brot could be gf and nothing could be changed or adjusted. I was offered on toast with. avo that I can get from any average caffe. great disappointment. View all feedback.
Tried their famous sandwiches. The chicken katsu had great quality chicken and batter and Japanese flavours but it had a very thick piece of chicken and had been sliced horizontally across a roll, leaving three pieces that were very difficult to eat. The teriyaki chicken...sandwich was perhaps better, thinner (and very tasty) chicken making it slightly easier to eat (still very messy due to avocado and egg) and with a good combination of ingredients, except that teriyaki did not seem to contribute very much at all to the overall flavour. Both had pretty standard bread but still good sandwiches.
My daughter in law suggested a get together for lunch on Sunday n we were not disappointed ! We had Ben who made us feel welcomed warm friendly personable ! As I work in the area I get my coffee from oratnek n Ben makes...great coffee remembering every ones diary coffee preferences! Oratnek has a diverse menu n our orders came out perfectly n quite substantial portions too! They are well known for thier matcha lamingtons n desserts plus smoothies n teas ! But my compliments are directed to Ben for always being consistent professional hard working n friendly ! Good work cafe oratnek n keep creating cool dishes
This little gem off the main centre of Redfern is great, fabulous coffee, food and service. The menu is great with a unique blend of Japanese and Australian style meals and cakes.
Such a cute, little place that offers an Asian-fusion style breakfast lunch food and really good coffee. Service is lovely and the venue is full of little tables, both indoors and outdoors, ideal for little catch-up and meetings.
Probably my favourite cafe in all of Sydney. Timing is everything to avoid the wait; I usually try to get here before 12 noon. My go to meal here is the tonkatsu sandwich with a matcha latte, although I’ve had the ebi pasta before and...that is also top shelf. I also ordered the matcha lamington and matcha tiramisu (sounds crazy but it works) and they were both excellent, particularly the latter. If only they opened a cafe in Melbourne.....
