This restaurant has been a family favourite since it opened in 1976. I visited Sydney yesterday and had dinner at Choys. The food is always good, the service is always good and well worth a visit if you are in the area. The prices are in the medium/low for Chinese food. I would recommend for singles to large families. What Jade Monahan doesn't like about Choys:
Choy's has been in Randwick for a long time. In the old days, it provided very good value Chinese food among the best in Sydney. The restaurant is not large but good enough for small group of 6. The portion has shrink and quality dropped...a bit from last visit. It's still a fair option when you dine in the area. For lobster or oyster, you have to place advance booking to ensure availability. Service is often good an... View all feedback.
Probably the most slandering Chinese I've ever had. the muted dim sauces were ok. the honey chicken tasted hardly honey, while the rich bark meat had the right aromas it so diluted. even the fried rice was bland. the quality of the food was decent, it was just lacking taste!
See you like a secret tiny restaurant with hidden menus and private crying. full-edged style, both interior decoration and background music. delicious food and a surprise after dinner.
Ive eaten here a few times over the years and the foods always been pretty on point, but my last experience will be my last. After ordering honey chicken and peking spare ribs we awaited the arrival of the food after serving out two portions i take my first bite to find a chunk of glass or some really hard plastic so i called asking for a refund which was meet with harsh tones from the owner who was in denial. He came to the house and after answering the door let himself into the home and proceeded to yell and argue that im some kind of lier now this is my first review most places would have fixed this problem quickly i actually am that anger about this meeting that ive decided to share...read more
I have walked by Choys a number of times and after a year and a half in living in Randwick I decided to check it out. There was about 6 of us and we were all greeted by friendly and eager to assist staff. We had ordered quite a few various dishes, which were all satisfactory and everyone agreed nothing really stood out as spectacular. However I would like to make mention the That the stir fried mixed combination, Mongolian Lamb and the salt and pepper calamari were quite tasty. There was still plenty of items on the menu which we didn't try so we will be giving it another go.
Simon Food Favourites review. Ordered a takeaway Fried Rice Deluxe, Szechuan Steak and Stir Fried Mixed Chinese Vegetable. All quite nice. Szechuan Steak probably doesn't travel the best as a takeaway but the quality of the meat was better than expected. Pickup service was efficient and friendly. Restaurant was probably about 3/4 full of customers.
