Description

Nestled in Astoria, Sugar Freak offers a delightful mix of New Orleans-inspired comfort food and a cozy ambiance. Diners rave about the mouthwatering dishes, including Chicken and Waffles Benedict and Oysters Rockefeller, served in generous portions with fresh ingredients. While the food consistently impresses, service quality has been a concern for some, with reports of inattentive staff and lengthy waits. Despite occasional service hiccups, the restaurant’s inviting atmosphere and delicious menu make it a must-visit for fans of Southern cuisine. Had a reservation for Sunday at noon for a group of friends- came to find the restaurant was closed. We should not be able to make reservations if you're planning to stay closed.. Astoria has a lot of great brunch spots, and we luckily found a seat at The Shady Lady which we enjoyed. Please plan better.. we were disappointed.

I've loved this place in the past, but I showed up yesterday evening to find it closed despite the website being up, and reservations still being taken online!! Update: searched online and it looks like they permanently closed Dec 18! Looks like the website is severely outdated.

Went for brunch on a Saturday. The food was so good! And the beignets were delightful! However, the service was terrible. Like laughably terrible. About four different staff members helped us with different things, and their demeanor made them look like they would rather do anything else other than help us. Though none of them were rude, none of them were even a little friendly. Keep that in mind and be patient with it but know that the food is worth it.
