Description

Chano's in Queens has a mixed bag of reviews when it comes to food and service, with some customers finding the portions small and the service slow, while others rave about the authentic Mexican cuisine and attentive staff. The restaurant offers a lively atmosphere with live music and a friendly owner. Recommended dishes include chilaquiles, shrimp enchiladas, guacamole, and the Cuban sandwich with hand-cut fries. Overall, Chano's seems to be a hit or miss depending on individual experiences, but it's a popular spot for those looking for a Mexican dining experience in the neighborhood.

The staff is always friendly and attentive, and the kitchen staff consistently produces quality authentic delicious well presented meals. The drinks are great, the mole is the best in Astoria, the guacamole is prepared fresh to order, and the calamari is tender and crispy. One dollar oysters always plump and fresh) is the reason we tried Chano’s, and we’re so happy that it’s a regular menu item!! Great staff, talented Chefs, authentic Mexican cuisine in a charming casual setting. It’s one of our favorite restaurants in Astoria Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My server was extraordinary. Such a nice kid and seemed genuinely interested in what this old man was doing in Astoria on a Monday evening. And the Chano's Burrito was excellent. My server did recommend the Broccoli Burrito (not vegetarian) after I ordered. And great prices on Happy Hour beers (this isn't Manhattan). Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

The food was average, but the portion sizes were quite small. Our main concern was the long wait time; it took an hour for our meals to arrive, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. Additionally, my friend was served water in a dirty glass, and we often felt neglected as we were left without attention for extended periods.

I made a reservation at Chanos for my birthday. At first, I was concerned when a man who seemed unaware of our reservation greeted us, but he ended up being our waiter. Chanos really exceeded my expectations. Our waiter was outstanding and attentive, delivering impeccable service. The margaritas were fantastic, and our table was spacious. The food was delicious, and our drinks were constantly refilled, with two bottles of water on the table. We particularly appreciated the complimentary tequila shots. I will definitely be returning. Thank you, Chanos, for making my birthday celebration unforgettable!
