BAIT AND SWITCH! I spent a total of $299.34. Part of my order contained 24 pork pasteles. The meat filling was undercooked, rubbery, inedible salt pork fat. No... read more BAIT AND SWITCH! I spent a total of $299.34. Part of my order contained 24 pork pasteles. The meat filling was undercooked, rubbery, inedible salt pork fat. No ham...no pernil. I emailed Derick and corresponded with Dayana Disla (Executive Assistance). I sent her 8 pictures of dissected pasteles which clearly shows the piles of pure rubbery fat. Her excuse was... Yes, sometimes the staff is in production mode and may overlook a couple with less meat. She went on to say she will not provide a refund. I was baited by the savory pork filled pasteles that Derick prepares on his youtube channel and it is clearly not what I received. Derick needs to implement quality control in his establishment. I live in California and I did not mind paying the $123 just on shipping cost because I trusted Derick would send an outstanding product like what he advertises. I will never purchase again, and I will inform other 's of my terrible experience. Please see attached photos.

It s... read more I was excited about checking out this place, the staff was super nice and friendly. The decor was great and they even had Coqui?s singing when you walk in. It smelled super good when I walked in and couldn?t wait to taste the Mofongo and Fried PorkChops that I ordered to take out. It was a bit pricey $25.00 including the tip. I figured it would be worth it, but sadly itwasn?t. The Mofongo looked like it fell out of an airplane over San Juan without a parachute, it was splatted in the bottom ofthe plate and looked oily and greasy. It tasted too salty and the garlic was overwhelming, this mess was covered by 2 overseasoned pork chops. The small salad was nothing special. I thought it would come with rice and beans but that was another $9.00bucks which I saw when I got home, so no thanks. Out of the 5 star rating ?The Freaking Rican? gets 3 stars for the staff anddecor and -2 stars for the food. The last picture is what it could have looked like. Come on guys you could do a lot better.

The servers were on point with suggestions and simply gave excellent service! The food was super taste! Excellent quality ofingredients! The mofongo is DELICIOUS! The pork juicy! And the pastel was also very tasty! I?ll deff be back!
