After a long day of driving in the rain and slipping on wet shoes, this place hit the spot. The ribs we ordered were incredibly tender and practically fell off the bone. The steamed broccoli with garlic and the dumplings were also delicious. We wished we had ordered more. View all feedback.
We were excited to discover this spot for Taiwanese desserts! While some items seemed a bit costly, the drinks and desserts were reasonably priced. The only exception may have been the $9 price for 3 egg tarts. We arrived half an hour before closing time and had to take our order to go as the dining room was already closed. The Taro Taro Sago came in a cute plastic cup and was everything it promised to be: chewy taro balls, grass jelly, red bean, boba, and sago (small tapioca) in a coconut base. It was perfect for sharing. The Mango Milk Swirl had ice and was also delicious!
I would not recommend this restaurant for anything other than appetizers. We tried the curry chicken over rice, but there were chunks of curry roux that had not dissolved in an overly thick sauce with slimy chicken that seemed to be over-tenderized with too much baking soda. The spicy cumin beef was correctly flavored but had the texture of extremely tough beef jerky. The fish fillet with chili over rice was acceptable, but only in comparison to the other disappointing dishes. The fried dumpling appetizer was the shining star; a proper homemade-style bao with a good texture and delicious filling of meat that also had a good texture.

Another lovely meal! Whenever we come to Phipps, we make sure to walk over for a great meal. The steamed pork buns are excellent and our new love is the Pan Fried Radish Cakes (there’s nothing radish about them). The yum yum sauce is great over rice and my kiddos enjoyed the chocolate slush.
