Pigs, pork puppets and crepes were all delicious! I traveled to Hungary in the past and the food took me back. The service was great, the prices are great, and the restaurant is casual and cozy. Very recommended.
Warm and unpretentious place with outstanding Eastern European food.
My boyfriend and I were visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend. The restaurant was recommended to us and had high reviews. This was our first time at a Hungarian and Eastern European restaurant so we did not know what to expect. Upon arriving our waitress was extremely kind and provided us her recommendations for the entrees. The environment was laid back and embraced the Hungarian culture, which we really enjoyed. In terms of the food, we were very disappointed. Our appetizer was the fried cheese and rice. It was underwhelming, what we expected to be a warm melted cheese was a solid block of slightly soft and cold cheese. As for the entree, we ordered the meats (beef, pork, chicken) and potatoes, with two side salads/vegetables. The potatoes and vegetables were the highlight. The meats were inedible for our liking. They were rubbery, thin, bland, and dry. Overall, our experience was different to what we expected and would most likely not go back again.
Great atmosphere, felt like visiting family! My wife and I enjoyed our meals, portions were pretty large, we took some left overs home so we could try dessert, which was delicious, just like everything else we had at the restaurant
Great authentic Hungarian food. Small place which adds to the vibe and the staff is very friendly. Exterior is a little intimidating, but don't let that dissuade you as you will certainly feel welcome as soon as you step inside this cozy eatery, Nice selection of European wine and beers.
Huszar, a charming Hungarian and Eastern European restaurant, offers a unique dining experience filled with authentic flavors and a welcoming atmosphere. While many patrons praise the attentive staff and cozy setting, opinions on the cuisine vary. Some dishes shine, particularly the potato pancakes and soups, capturing the essence of traditional Hungarian fare. However, several diners express disappointment with certain entrees, describing them as bland and lacking flavor. Desserts also receive mixed reviews, with some being delightful while others fall short. Overall, Huszar provides a nostalgic glimpse into Hungarian dining, though culinary consistency appears to be a concern.

Best Schnitzel in Pittsburgh! And a place you can join into a Hungarian conversation!
YUM. great food in a neighborhood hangout. Had the Bakonyi steak. Reviews are spot on.
This place has excellent Hungarian food. Owners are super nice as well. Will definitely go back
We had the creamy onion soup and it is really good and they must have starter. We also had the potato pancake which was really good as well. We had the cheese and butter stuffed chicken breast can the chicken schnitzel with the mushroom sauce both were great. Also got a Walnut torte desert but I also did not get to eat that but heard it was great
Great food and neat Hungarian decor inside, including many maps that I’m sure no one would find controversial (for real tho the food is incredible)

The food was excellent and the restaurant is situated in a wonderful neighborhood. I will definitely be returning.
The steak was terrible. It was overcooked and bland. The potatoes were soft and lackluster.
The food was delicious and seemed to be freshly prepared and kept warm. The sauces added to the dishes were excellent. The cream of onion soup was unique and flavorful. However, the dessert options were limited by the end of the day. We ordered the apricot cookies, but they were nothing special to finish off our dinner experience.
Great food at a very fair price! You won’t leave hungry!
My wife and I shared the fall off the bone ribs with red cabbage and smashed potatoes. It was topped with a tomato based sauce and was delicious. They also have interesting wines and yummy desserts.

If you want authentic ethnic cuisine, that's the place to go.....food true to European region and atmosphere of people speaking the language of the food's originIt's really a trip to, as my grandma calls it, Old Country!
Perfect end to a adventurous day in Pittsburgh. The meal was delicious, the staff incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere welcoming and cozy. Will absolutely return.Dietary restrictions: Delicious, authentic Hungarian gluten free meal, which is a treasure for someone with Celiac.
OMG!!! This is a hidden treasure!Transylvanian platter, stuffed cheese and bacon pork. To-die-for steak fries with both.... The appetizer tray was the best meat and cheese ever.Old world experience. Large portions.Front bar.Dark, classic tavern atmosphere.100% recommend to goths and yinzers alike.
Really good, authentic Hungarian food! Was delightful and nice, I really enjoyed my date here and the waiter was very attentive. Food was immaculately good, I had no complaints whatsoever. Music and ambiance were quaintly Magyar, I was enthralled with the experience. Parking was a slight nuisance, but overall a great experience and the restaurant is much bigger than expected. They also have a great chocolate torte (Esterházy torte) that was worth the high cost!Isten áldd meg a magyart!Parking: Weirdly located, limited parking options for blocks
Vegetarian options: Just 2 vegetarian entrees but both are great!
