This was our first time at a Hungarian a... read more My boyfriend and I were visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend. The restaurant was recommended to us and had high reviews. This was our first time at a Hungarian and Eastern European restaurant so we did not know what to expect. Upon arriving our waitress was extremely kind and provided us her recommendations for the entrees. The environment was laid back and embraced the Hungarian culture, which we really enjoyed. In terms of the food, we were very disappointed. Our appetizer was the fried cheese and rice. It was underwhelming, what we expected to be a warm melted cheese was a solid block of slightly soft and cold cheese. As for the entree, we ordered the meats (beef, pork, chicken) and potatoes, with two side salads/vegetables. The potatoes and vegetables were the highlight. The meats were inedible for our liking. They were rubbery, thin, bland, and dry. Overall, our experience was different to what we expected and would most likely not go back again.

The cream of onion soup was unique and flavorful. However, the dessert options were limited by the end of the day. We ordered the apricot cookies, but they were nothing special to finish off our dinner experience.

Food was immaculately good, I had no complaints whatsoever. Music and ambiance were quaintly Magyar, I was enthralled with the experience. Parking was a slight nuisance, but overall a great experience and the restaurant is much bigger than expected.
