Enjoyed dinner. Thankfully on outside terrace. Not as inviting as inside the restaurant, but much quieter. Truly hard to hear yourself think inside, which gives a nice energy, but some sound mitigation would be welcomed. View all feedback.
What Duane Hostetler dislikes about Fig Ash Wood Fire Kitchen:
Great atmosphere. Staff service was wonderful. We ordered appetizers which were wonderful. They were unique, great presentation and delicious. The main dish was small and ok. Prices were high. Price for our main dish was very extreme base on what we received. Our fish serving was small. The fish was ok but definitely not spectacular as the price would suggest. Drinks were very good. Really hope to see this restaurant... View all feedback.
Overall, a very high quality dining experience. Everything we ordered was delicious and above our expectations. One small thing is that the dining space felt a bit compact, and was not exactly quiet due to how busy the restaurant was. We had a hard time hearing each other from across the table. However, aside from that, we had an excellent time, and our server was extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely want to visit again!
Shortly: cool spot, friendly, chatty stuff, great wine suggestions. Out of four things we tried only one was disappointing but so much it costs a star. We started with the mussles great, slightly spicy taste. Then we moved to the meatloaf, which was surprisingly amazing, mix of the meats works great! But the short ribs... were dry and overall very weak. As a short ribs lover I tried them many times, including cooking at home, and this was far, far, far worse than the weakest attempt. We finished with flourless chocolate cake which ended the dinner on a high note. Usually flourless cakes are a bit too dense for me, but this was like a perfect brownie, not too heavy, but very flavorful. In summary, overall impression was very good, with one surprising disappointment.
Had a wonderful dinner for at Fig Ash the other night . The pork belly small plate and meatloaf entree were particularly exceptional. Can see why they stay busy. Now for the regular programmed food coma to commence.
This restaurant was AMAZING! Came to Pittsburgh for a game with no idea where to eat for dinner, and we are so happy we ended up here. The cocktails have very funny/cute names and the food…….WOW. We got 2 small plates for apps and large plates for ourmain course. They portions were HUGE, and so delicious. The staff was great, alexi and Corey being the stars of the night. Ifyou have been considering coming to this place, you should go. I’m currently still full from dinner last night!!
