Last night I made the very wise decision to order takeout from this restaurant for the first time, and let me tell you, eating this food felt... transcendent. Like as I chewed my soul left my body and began dancing in thespace between stars in a warm and welcoming universe. The chicken katsu and sushi (yellowtail/jalepeño crab/mango/cheese)were perfectly executed versions of dishes that are very familiar to me. The onigiri rice ball (I tried the seaweed saladflavor) and takoyaki octopus balls were completely new for me and are now hovering comfortably near the top of my personal alltime best dish list. I'm new to Philly and am working on eating my way across the city ? so far Bubblefish is tied for firstplace as my favorite! It's going to be harder to try as many new places, now that I know these delicious balls are so easilywithin reach. Compliments to the chef! Update: My guy and I have ordered Bubblefish as least 2 more times since my initialreview. Last time I made a pair of onigiri the main course of my meal. The spicy kani salad and seaweed flavors are the currentfront runners and their sauces are a must-try. They make the best spicy Mayo and a killer honey wasabi. Update 2: I finallydined in! Great experience. Tried the uni and the bubblefish special roll for the first time. Very tasty and the service atmosphere were excellent.

Located in the Chinatown part of the city,I was expecting a bit more but aside from the food along with the restaurant looking aesthetically pleasant, the taste... read more Located in the Chinatown part of the city,I was expecting a bit more but aside from the food along with the restaurant looking aesthetically pleasant, the taste and substance of our meal was pretty underwhelming. The appetizers including the takoyaki,fried calamari and baked chicken did not have any strong flavors to it and the thing that stood out most about these were justthe fried texture giving it a decent crunch. The rolls did not taste very fresh and did it feel like the flavors came togetherfor either roll we got. This is a decent place for a quick lunch bite with average service but it doesn?t stand out from otherJapanese restaurants.
