Contribute FeedbackStogie Joe's restaurant, a noted spot featured on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives," offers a lively atmosphere but is marred by some significant drawbacks. Diners rave about the delicious pizza and hearty dishes like the topneck clams and rigatoni, celebrating the establishment's no-frills approach. However, criticisms abound regarding the cash-only policy, inattentive service, and noisy interiors that detract from the experience. While the food can be exceptional, inconsistencies in flavor and service, combined with issues like limited parking and rude management, leave many patrons questioning the overall value of their visit.
Such potential for an amazing place, if only the owner wasn?t the worst. Our waitress was okay even though she was not attentive and we waited for our check for 30 minutes. The owner, however, was one of the rudest people. His attitude is exactly what?swrong with South Philly, coming from a South Philadelphian. It shouldn?t be a crazy concept that you should want to retaincustomers and welcome people, but instead we were met with hostility and rudeness. Literally take your business anywhere elsethe food is whatever but way overpriced anyways.
This place has become a local gem and continues to impress me every single time I go here, year after year. Delicious food, great beer selection without being overwhelming, friendly staff and people, and a nice atmosphere. Cash only; atm onsite.
Really tasty stromboli. Minimal vegetarian options. Soup was okay. Good atmosphere.
We go here for quizzo, but the food is good too. I'm a big fan of the pizza, the chicken parmesan, the clams in white, the hummus plate, and the Salmon. I, personally, don't like mussels, but my one girlfriend orders the mussels every single time soI'm guessing they are very good? Not a ton of vegan options for my vegan friends, but the spaghetti with olive oil and garliccan be done without parmesan cheese and is better than it sounds.
First, let me say that parking is atrocious. We parked a ten minute walk away. We picked Stogie Joe 's to eat at while in Philly because it was a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives spot. The place was busy and the staff was hustling. Our server waspolite, but not personable. We were seated in what I would say is an add on room, which they called 'the garage '. It was sounbelievably loud, we could not even have a conversation, and it wasn 't music or TV 's, just people! Food was good. We had thesquare pizza with fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, and more. It was good, but pretty sure we won 't be going back. I could notstand the noise. Oh, and it 's cash only, but an ATM is on site.
