the BEST chip shop is far away. eating is always of the same standard and tasty. very clean shop and very friendly staff. we wouldn't go anywhere else, even if we had to drive a pretty distance there. View all feedback.
What johngN5188GV dislikes about Holt's Fish Chips:
This used to be the best chippy around but on the last four occasions it's been below standard. It's mainly the chips, they are overcooked and very dry and taste rather bitter. The fish is hit n miss and always very oily and the peas this time were like something from a tin. Going to try elsewhere next time . View all feedback.
Chips which already tasted like they'd been sitting for a while might have been better if the salt and vinegar had gone on them rather than just on the fish which was unceremoneously chucked on them. The batter on the fish was a bit thick and could have been fried a bit lighter but was tasty. I think this is a decent chippy but just needs to get some basics right. Price is a couple of quid higher than what I've paid elsewhere for same order and received better quality tbh. If I'm in the area and want a chippy dinner I would try elsewhere first. Staff were friendly and very nice to customers.
Not at all bad fish was fresh. Batter wasn't too thick and was nice and crispy. Chips were ok but could have been a little crisper. Friendly staff Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

The fish and chips at this restaurant were cooked perfectly, with a crispy batter and delicious chips. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, making it a great place to visit. There are plenty of options to choose from, with affordable deals that make it appealing to everyone. The service is quick and efficient, so you won't have to wait long for your meal. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant again without hesitation.
The restaurant is not as good as it used to be, so I will not be returning.
