Went here for the weekday lunch buffet and it was delicious. Everything that someome would normally like to see on a Chinese Buffet and also very affordable per person). The owner, Lily, is such a nice woman and very welcoming. Very clean as well....Definitely recommend. View all feedback.
What Savanna Pfannerstill doesn't like about Veranda D'Or Restaurant:
They raised the prices by a dollar to $10.99; about time! I think they now make enough money to allow them to offer a reasonable quality of food. Things were fresher, didn't seem to be left over this time (for both reviews I arrived right at 12PM when the buffet was in full swing). Worth the price if you are in the neighborhood but not as much variety as the big buffets for $4 or $5 more. View all feedback.
I ordered delivery from this restaurant while visiting a sick relative at the hospital. Do your research and don't believe the good reviews. They are wrong! I ordered a combo meal which included chicken. The hot and sour soup was awful! The chicken dish has an overwhelming smell of fish, and my sick mother was as disgusted as me by the smell of rotting fish coming from a chicken dish. When contacted, the restaurant owner Lille said I must be mistaken because their food is always good. Instead of owning up, she delivered disappointment. There are many excellent restaurants in Ottawa, do yourself a favor and go to one of them and avoid this one.I heard that the owners are retiring soon and closing the restaurant; it is likely that they have downgraded the quality of food to help increase their profits for retirement. Shame on you!

I've been to the V.D'or lunch buffet several times in the past number of years and it has always been OK; not great but worth the price. My recent visit was a great disappointment. The dishes were generally empty or cold; very slow to fill up and when the do add newly cooked food it's a very small portion. The usually OK wonton soup was obviously left over from yesterday: the broth was ultra-salty and the wontons cooked to mush (as will happen after 24 hours in the soup). The price has been cheap, $9.99, it seems for ever; I think it is time for them to raise the price and start supplying a decent quality of food. Don't think I'll go back.
My wife and I went to this eatery based on so many positive reviews and had the noon-time buffet. Not good. Heavily salted beef, bland and over-cooked veggies, pedestrian egg rolls. All in all your typical NA Chinese fare and miles behind what a Vietnamese eatery features. Again this was the buffet so perhaps the menu offers redemption. We shall see.
