Pookies Thai Restaurant - Ottawa

Pookie's is a lovely little restaurant in a strip plaza in Ottawa West. Pookie does all the cooking herself, and it's delicious, authentic Thai food.

We looked on TripAdvisor for something close by, and Pookie came up. I love Pad Thai, and my wife can usually find some soup on any menu. The decor is really clean and modern and the lighting is great. I ordered the Pad Thai, which gladly could be cooked without cilantro. The same cannot be said for the vermicelli soup. My wife also cannot tolerate any cilantro, and the soup has plenty. It also had clear vermicelli, which we never really saw before. That was an obstacle for her. She ate half of the soup (mostly the chicken) after picking out the cilantro leaves. We had a second order of pork rolls, which looked more like pockets. They were absolutely delicious. Overall we had a good experience.

Was in the area and craving thai food. Did a quick search and this place popped up. Its hidden from the main street.Host was really friendly, got us seated right away. Place is beautiful with fresh roses on the tables and a candle.The food is just wow. In comparison to other places serving thai food; this is the best. Ordered Green curry with chicken, red curry with beef and peanuts and jasmine rice.Amazing flavours.Will definitely be back.This place now is number 1 in my list of thai restaurants in Ottawa. I believe its family run.

The food and service at Pookies is amazing! It is a family owned restaurant with authentic Thai food and great service. Prices are very reasonable...you can have a tasty and healthy lunch for the same price as eating at a fast food place. Highly recommend!

We eat vegetarian, in fact preferably vegan, and although we are NOT fans of spicy food the staff at Pookies was able to accommodate us a with several dishes that were both incredibly delicious and not spicy. Simply amazing. The peanut sauce on the Rice Paper tofu rolls was the best we have tasted, anywhere! Every dish at our table of 5 had rave reviews. The veggies were cooked to perfection. This is a restaurant we have added to our favorites list. Simply said we were pleasantly surprised and pleased to have stumbled upon this rare gem in a rather inconspicuous strip mall.
