However, the place is too crowded and they often don't provide trays or ask if you're dining in or taking out. The straw and ketchup station is small and inconveniently placed. There's no paper towels for drying hands, so you have to touch the handle before eating. There is seating available upstairs, so it's easy to find a place to sit.

Last time, around 2 p.m, upstairs dining area was dirty, lots of... read more Two times out of 3, no apple pies. One time out of 4, specialty coffee machine is out of order. Last time, around 2 p.m, upstairs dining area was dirty, lots of garbage on the floor, bins overflowing, and one TV out of service. Where's the boss?

I was inspired to write this review because of the potential of the upstairs of this restaurant for a quiet get away. If you are searching for a true "fast food" fix ( and who isn't once in a while) and a place to relax in downtown Ottawa, this could do the trick. Busy at meal times, however, in between there is plenty of space upstairs to relax and enjoy some coffee (or whatever). You may even feel a bit pampered as the décor is modern and the tables are not cramped. The afternoon that I went there were 5 business people evenly spaced out, and clearly taking a well deserved break.
