For special occasions or just because we always order Indian food from here. I can say with confidence everything on the menu is superb! For the quality of the food I think it's well priced. My daughter loves the onion bahji my husband loves the chicken korma, and I love the eggplant dish. Nice dining room, good service, but we usually order in so we can have leftovers the next day! What Samridhi doesn't like about Light of India Restaurant Inc:
We went there at 9pm on Friday and they did not lot us in stating that they have already closed. Although the timing on google maps said it closes at 9:30pm.When asked the same, they said they do not take dine in customers past 9pm. Then they should change the timings on their storefront. Very misleading View all feedback.
The restaurant is absolutely great! the decor is beautiful and the personal are all very friendly and worth knowing about what they serve. there is a large plant-only section in the menu that contains many amazing dishes, so vegetarian and vegan are not missing. it is a fantastic place to bring friends and other vegans. the prices are also good for Indian food, and the mango leti is great. I can't find anything missing from this place. it is a beautiful experience all around.
We were at the buffet on Saturday afternoon. the owner was very aware of what vegan do and do not eat and showed on suitable options. the buffet was mostly vegan. it wasn't the hottest food I've ever had until temeratur goes, but it was very tasty and each dish had another taste. the aubergine and potato peel were particularly good.
We were very disappointed with this restaurant. The wait was for the food was over an hour. When it finally arrived it was not hot. The butter chicken was chunks of chicken breast that seemed like compressed old tough chicken pieces they had placed in a sauce that tasted like it came out of a bought "President's Choice" bottle. Both vegetable dishes were very over priced and truly terrible. We have never eaten such bland lifeless Indian food anywhere. On top of all this they tried to charge us 3.99 for some hot sauce that we had requested. We will never set foot in this restaurant again. I'm stunned at how highly rated this restaurant seems to be. Maybe it has changed ownership.
I regularly go to this restaurant as it has become a lunch time go to place. The interior is relatively small with room for 35-45 patrons and a small buffet at lunchtime and for dinner. Price is reasonably inexpensive but the food is good. The owner is usually there and greats his guests with an authentic welcome. Naan, mulligatawny soup, lentils, spinach, veggie dishes, salad, butter chicken, etc... all is hot and well prepared. I recommend this place for a quick but good Indian meal.
I used to LOVE this restaurant - cozy atmosphere, friendly talkative staff, and great indian food ... I suppose the atmosphere is still there, but the food has taken a very pronounce turn for the worse - in fact, the food is not even remotely reminiscent of the what it used to be - I'm sure they've changed over the whole kitchen staff ... the Chana masala is now chick peas in a generic butter chicken sauce that tastes like President's Choice in a jar... the cauliflower & potatoes Gobi Aloo had an overwhelming amount of garlic to the point that it burned the palate and all you could taste was garlic - ... the eggplant dish was the least objectionable, though on the bland side from what it USED to be for the past several years... I don't believe this was just a bad night and I'll wait for the "under new management" sign to go up in the window before I return for another meal.
