Reviews praise The Waggon Inn’s friendly service, lively atmosphere and value deals; a few guests note occasional pizza or dessert inconsistencies and a chilly conservatory.

We had a fantastic time celebrating a friend's 50th birthday at The Annex. Nina at the bar was wonderful - very friendly and skilled at making delicious gin and tonics. She paid attention to detail to ensure the garnish was just right. Thank you!

I met up with three friends for a catch-up and we decided to go for the 2 pizzas and Prosecco deal for £30, and we ordered it twice. The pizzas had a great variety of toppings and were very large. The quality was really good and it was great value for the money. We will definitely be returning in the future!

We visited on Friday night. We hadn't booked and a couple of the other restaurants were full, but we got a table at The Annex. The staff were very pleasant, but the pizza's were a bit grim. I had the special, which was just tasteless and my husband had the chicken and chorizo which had mayonnaise dribbled all over it. (it did have that on the menu when we came to look back at it, but it was very bizarre). The pizza base tasted like the value range from a supermarket. The restaurant was also really cold. The lady on the next table sat with her coat on throughout their meal.

We decided to celebrate my Dad's 50th birthday party at The Annex and it was absolutely wonderful! We chose this venue because of its flexibility in terms of weather. Despite reserving an outdoor space in hopes of good weather, it ended up raining in typical British fashion. However, this did not pose a problem as the staff had set up large umbrellas and heaters, allowing us to still enjoy the outdoor space. Abi was incredibly helpful leading up to the event, answering all of our questions promptly. On the day of the party, the staff assisted us in setting up decorations and provided excellent service from beginning to end. They even packed up all the decorations and wrapped up the cake at the end of the night. The pizzas were delicious and well-received by our guests, and Abi accommodated our requests to customize certain items on the menu. I highly recommend The Annex as a venue for any party or event!

More information

Locals often rave about the bar team’s personality so much that bartenders become the evening’s unofficial hosts — one regulars’ tip: ask about the pizza-and-Prosecco offer and the staff’s knack for finding extra seating (or moving groups on after drinks) — it’s part of what turns one-off visits into repeat nights out.
