Walt's Diner
Description
Walt's in Old Forge is a long-standing favorite among locals and visitors alike, known for its generous portion sizes and welcoming ambiance. Guests rave about the colossal pancakes and attentive service, marking it as a perennial breakfast destination. However, some patrons have reported cleanliness issues and a lack of complimentary tap water, resulting in mixed feedback about value for money. The restaurant operates year-round and offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for conversations. While the food can be hit or miss, the friendly staff and local charm contribute to its overall appeal, making it a worthwhile stop for many.

Food was ok. Server was friendly in the beginning. Tried ordering a coffee and a water. Was served coffee and told that the only water available was bottled. I asked if they made the coffee with tap and she said yes. But apparently it’s against policy to offer guests tap water and they need to pay for it if they want it. So beware, if you want water with your food, you’re going to pay for it.
Great breakfast. Servers are courteous and helpful. Plan to eat there again this week. John from MD.
I can't say enough great things about this long time Old Forge landmark restaurant! We had breakfast here the two out of three mornings we were in Old Forge. Why not the third morning you say?, because they are closed Tuesdays otherwise we would have been there! The staff make this place fun and the food is great! The eggs always cooked exactly how you ask and the bacon is in my opinion done perfectly, crispy without being overdone! Home fries decent, homemade Italian bread toast and good coffee! I skipped the pancake this trip however I remember it being huge and delicious last trip back in 2017! Old Forge locals are friendly and Walt's is a great place to sit at the counter and visit with some! We met a lady there today who lived her whole life in this town and her relatives go back to pretty much the start of Old Forge back in the 1800's, so cool to talk with her! The town's early history began in 1798 apparently.
