Perkins Cove’s seaside hideaway serves fresh, inventive seafood—poke, chowder, tempura, crab cakes and lobster rolls—paired with a sun-drenched patio and sweeping ocean views. Friendly, attentive staff and a relaxed, tucked-away vibe make it ideal for families, couples and tourists; beer and wine are available and gluten-free options offered. Expect standout dishes alongside occasional inconsistencies (bread or shellfish prep) and some pricey items. Overall, a picturesque spot for al fresco dining, people-watching and memorable coastal flavors.

Was Anonym at The Trap a mag?
Fantastic service and delicious food! The crab cakes were outstanding, featuring a unique twist with the breadcrumbs. I really enjoyed the creative take on calamari, served with balsamic and parmesan—so tasty! The patio in the back offers a lovely view of Perkins Bay, and it's pleasantly shaded from the sun. What Anonym dislikes about The Trap:
Food quality was very low and price tag high. Not recommended. Much better places on the area. We order lobster rolls and mussels. Lobster rolls: bread was poor quality and greasy, sides were cheap made pasta and pickles. We did not get pickles. When we asked why?, the waiter said they ran off pickles. After complaining, they brought them. All this for 28 usd each!! Mussels: some mussels had beards (therefore taste w... View all feedback.

We enjoyed a variety of top-quality dishes that were all fresh and flavorful. The Haddock and Clam Chowder was packed with seafood and had a pure taste of the ocean, lacking the heavy bacon and cream that often overwhelms such dishes. The oysters, sourced from Maine, were incredibly fresh. The shrimp tempura was also outstanding—light and crispy with vibrant flavors. As for the entrees, we had Hawaiian Poke and a grilled yellowfin sandwich. The Poke transported me back to Hawaii; I loved the ginger and seaweed salad (wakame). It was served over white rice—simple yet bursting with flavors. The grilled yellowfin was flawlessly cooked, so tender that I could cut it with my fork. It was served on a bun with arugula and wasabi mayo. Next time, I might ask for it to be deconstructed, as part of the bun became a little soggy. Overall, everything was perfect aside from that minor detail. We can’t wait to return next weekend for another delightful meal while gazing at the beautiful sea. Oh, and we also enjoyed a delicious bottle of red wine from Spain that paired wonderfully with our meal.

The dining experience was incredible, and the staff was fantastic! My daughter was feeling warm from our walk, and one of the team members kindly brought her a cold washcloth to help cool her down. Exceptional service and delicious food! Thank you!

Best meal we had in our weekend trip to Ogunquit. We got a table outside, which let us enjoy a beautiful view. I would highly recommend the sweet crab cakes; some of the best I?ve had.
