So Zap - Ogunquit
So Zap
Description
Hidden on Route 1 in Ogunquit, SoZap delivers vibrant, unassuming Thai cooking—standout appetizers, bright curries and a Pad Thai that competes with city rivals—paired with inventive cocktails like the Mai Tai and Bangkok Cooler. The menu lets you choose protein and spice level, and staff are generally attentive and accommodating to dietary needs. Outdoor heated seating, pocket-sized indoor dining, and wallet-friendly prices make it a popular alternative to seafood spots, though execution can be inconsistent at times (occasional dry scallops or undercooked elements).

Best Thai restaurant I’ve been to yet. Sadly, they’re closed for the season during my visit this Fall, but every time I’ve gone here, it’s been delicious!
The staff was friendly, but I wouldn't describe them as efficient. The atmosphere was decent, but unfortunately, the food fell short. My pad thai lacked flavor and, honestly, was overpriced. The others in my group said their meals were not as disappointing as mine, but they didn't express much enthusiasm about them either.
Great staff. Lovely Thai food. Everything was very tasty except, surprisingly, the chicken wings, which weren 't crispy/crunchy but 'fatty ' under their fried exterior. Will revisit to see if this was an exception.
Their rating is well deserved. Super efficient service, the food was delicious and the ambiance very fun.
Looking for something other than seafood during our week in Maine, we walked to this little place. Not your typical menu, but rather offering a variety of basic dishes (stir fry, pad tie, etc. with the ability to select a protein (beef, chicken, pork, etc. . Specify an amount pepper spice (0-5 , and off you go. My wife's dish was excellent, though her hotness of 2 was very strong. My beef stir-fry with the lowest heat was perfect for me. Plenty of dishes offered with no heat as well. Three small tables inside, with most seating in an extension of the front with propane heaters and plastic sheeting. Don't get me wrong, with creative lighting and fixtures, the setting is very comfortable. Portions are generous, service is friendly, and we both loved it. Located on Route 1 (Main Street on the western edge of Ogunquit village. An easy walk, but parking is across the street at no charge in the evening. Dinner for two with tax and generous tip was $52.00, a bargain for a quality meal in this market.
