I rarely write reviews, but that was necessary! My husband, 8 months old son and I ate there at noon and everything was great. The atmosphere was funny. It was a sunny but cool day, so we sat outside with a heating next to us and there was live music game. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make risk-free recommendations for my milk and soy allergy... and with the kitchen confirmed that... View all feedback.
What Andy B doesn't like about Nikanos Mediterranean Grille:
We had take out priced at around $80. It was not worth it. The food was clearly reheated and not fresh. Overall without taste, the lamb was tough as old boots. Sides were not as listed. Just a very disappointing experience. Clearly the place is busy so the food can't be this bad all the time. Or did they just send out old food for takeout? Either ways. I'd avoid this place. We sat at the bar, having a dirty martini and a Greek mule. It was nice speaking with a fellow Greek, Niko, and hearing the family history in the restaurant business starting with his Γιαγιά. I have been to Greece numerous times--the octopus at Nikanos was probably the best I have ever had! It was the first time my friend had ever had it and she loved it!! Ευχαριστώ Νικανος!
My girlfriend and I were in Portsmouth, New Hampshire for the day just walking around the cute little town when I decided that we should take a drive up to Maine since we both have never been that far north before! It was around 5:30pm when we reached York, ME and I was starting to get hungry! She was as well! I pulled over and decided to look up places in the area and stumbled upon Nikano’s a town over! When we got there, we were greeted with a smile and the atmosphere of the establishment blew me away. It’s an outside seating restaurant with a small bar and an amazing menu full of great food. The bartender was beyond friendly and every single person there, staff and guests, were so so so nice to my girlfriend and I. We didn’t have a reservation for a table so we sat at the bar! It was a welcoming experience. She ordered the tomato flatbread and I ordered the lobster flatbread! Wow. Who knew a flatbread and a beer could taste that delicious. We haven’t felt secure about a place to eat in a long time. And it was our first time in the state of Maine! What a flawless experience. Thank you to Nikanos and to that sweet couple next to us that made us feel like we were at home. When I find myself up that way again, I know exactly where I am stopping to eat. 11/10.
Had a wonderful dinner the other day pastitsio, chicken, and the zucchini chips, all great. They also had live Jazz and Ogunquit happened to be doing fireworks that night. You could see them from the restaurant. Couldn't ask for better. Great service, food, and ambiance.

The food was great! We will definitely come back!
I really enjoyed my meal here. Great atmosphere and very relaxed, but at the same time has a decadent feeling for the dinning experience. Portions and service were both great! The ingredients were fresh and the pistachio ice cream was devinated. Worth a visit when you're in the area.
