it seems when the place was closed from the outside, but the sign said open and had quite good reviews, so we went in. it is a great place inside and smells delicious. we ordered a chicken hot pot, spicy combinatiom chow my, seafood noodles and spicy roasted tofu. everything was delicious! we all shared our eating that was not the original plan. the hot pot was enough for 4 of us plus took two full containers to go.... What User doesn't like about Spices 3:
Spices 3 used to be my all-time favorite Chinese restaurant, but in the past year or so the quality has changed a lot. I can only guess they got a different chef, or something, because at one point, the quality suddenly nose-dived. I typically get the kiss of fire orange chicken, and it used to be my favorite dish at any Chinese place, and for whatever reason, it's completely different now. I can only describe it as... As a person born and raised in China, I can tell them that the sharp Chinese cuisine here is really amazing. her la zi ji is my favorite — please try it out!

I think they use szechuan chilis that give them a tingle and I really like it. they only take cash and close to reopen 3 o'clock later. everything was served hot and fast and we enjoyed it. in any case will visit again and say friends.
This is one of the hot spots in oakland, literally. I was in this restaurant several times and there are some real winners on the menu. recommended: lamme with cumin seasoning; and ma po. I order the dishes always very sharp. portions are generous, prices are reasonable and service is very friendly.
I can't get enough of this place. I'll come every time I get into the bay. it is my benchmark for Szechuan style. in contrast to many Chinese stains are all sauces rich and tasteful and the dishes are only soupy when they are suppe. get you, be happy.
CASH ONLY! Average dish is $13, and the serving sizes are huge. My boyfriend and I got the crispy duck and the szechuan fish. If you like spicy food, def recommend this szechuan restaurant! good portion size, very filling.
