We felt so welcome here at our first night in Oakland, had a great experience in this bar. The bartender and the local crowd that night were so friendly. They gave us great suggestions on things to do in the city for Halloween Meltdown. Never thought to take the ferry while we were here otherwise and it ended up a favorite experience on our trip. Great dive bar. It was cool to hear about the punk history of the place... View all feedback.

I couldn't be a bigger fan of diving bars, and as a long-term neighborhood I was living, I thought to make this my local hangout. But really: $10 for a good gin tonic? No, thanks. Not if the same $10 could bring me a Mai Tai at Kona Club or a Saturno while Bar Cesar's Happy Hour. I hate to say, but it looks like this place isn't a real diver anymore. It is a place that wants to overload people in search of diving bar... View all feedback.
As everyone says, wonderful diving bar with classic neon. Good amount, especially to Mosswood Meltdown. BUT the fermented bartender last night super nice, fast, somehow while handling the very full bar of itself, is the reason for the higher rating.
Part of my formative life, burn your face off hot pockets, “want to be sedated”, great times and great friends. Glad your still open and glad I’m still alive at 45! Thanks and we miss the missing!
A big pet peeve of mine. Dive bars that don't charge dive bar prices. $7 for a pint during Happy Hour in this dumpy place is egregious. Poor beer list too. Not one star because bartender was a nice guy. I won't be back. Hit up Avenue or Kingfish instead.
This is my local neighborhood bar. EVERYONE is welcome amd made to feel so. Full set of hard drinks, good selection of beer and wine, and a very modern juke box that streams about everything. Today's visit was a long talk at one of the few tables as we mused over a coke and a sparkling water sold to us at a reasonable price.
I once met a guy here who was on the run from the Hell's Angels. Interesting convo. Good bar.
