I understand that opinions on this place vary. We hadn't visited since the reopening last year. The food was quite good— I had the prime rib and the green chili mac and cheese, while my girlfriend ordered the catfish. We had no complaints. I always leave a tip on top of the CHP fee. If dining out is too costly for you, perhaps staying home to cook might be a better option. EDIT: We had brunch on May 4, 2024, and it was excellent!
We hosted our wedding reception at El Rancho over the weekend, and we couldn't be more pleased. We chose El Rancho primarily because it's only about 2 miles away from our venue, Juniper Mountain House, and it has a relaxed atmosphere with fantastic food. As the bride and groom, you might need to have a vision for the Aspen Room (which is in the basement), but I can assure you that it can be transformed beautifully. I’m usually not impressed by wedding food, but I was genuinely impressed with the Fried Chicken, Brisket, and Vegetarian Shepherd's Pie. In fact, many of our guests remarked on how delicious these dishes were. To top it all off, the staff, especially the main bartender and the coordinator (Maggie, I believe), were wonderful. I highly recommend El Rancho as an event space or simply as a great spot to grab a bite and a drink.
