We ordered the Beef Vindaloo, whi... read more We have been frequent visitors to this restaurant and have always enjoyed the food, but our last visit was very disappointing. We ordered the Beef Vindaloo, which we were warned would be hot (a warning we didn't find necessary). Unfortunately, the dish was extremely dry, making the rice and curry almost inedible. There was no heat or spice at all. We questioned if there has been a change in chefs. Additionally, the ice-cream was not fresh and tasted like it had been thawed and refrozen multiple times. This meal was supposed to be a special Christmas outing with our family.

Barbara went above and beyond to accommodate my gluten-fr... read more During the end of our journey on The Two Moors Way walk, my dog Bodhi and I stayed at this restaurant. Barbara went above and beyond to accommodate my gluten-free and vegan dietary needs, and the food she provided was some of the best gluten-free vegan cuisine I've ever tasted. Andy was a delightful conversationalist at the bar and made us feel right at home. The room was comfortable, with blackout curtains that ensured a restful night's sleep. They even provided a treat for Bodhi and made sure we were well taken care of. Overall, it was a fantastic stay!

The... read more Thank you to Barbara, Andy and the rest of the team for looking after me on my first holiday away on my own to visit my friend in this lovely part of Devon. The room I stayed in was clean and cosy, and reasonably priced for myself as a solo traveller considering breakfast was included. The cooked breakfasts were excellent with a range of cereal choices also included. My friend who I was visiting, and I, didn't always eat at the Mitre while I was staying there but when we did we found the food to be lovely, reasonably priced and were suprised by the range of options considering it is a village pub. My friend appreciated the range of vegetarian choices and enjoyed the vegan ice cream. If I am back this way in the future, I would definetely stay at the Mitre Inn again. Thank you!

The service was outstanding, and the food I have nothing else to say it was amazing. The owners are lovely people and made sure my kids, wife and myself feel accompanied with open arms.
