The Grampus offers a mixed experience, with some patrons celebrating its cozy atmosphere and friendly service, especially during chilly visits by the log fire. Many appreciate the local ales and freshly prepared meals, highlighting the welcoming environment for families and pets alike. However, the restaurant has faced criticism for inconsistent service, particularly regarding operating hours and menu availability. Limited choices, such as the absence of coffee and cake during peak times, have disappointed returning guests. Delicious food, friendly service and beautiful old surroundings. The bar staff were knowledgeable and talkative (if you want that too). The log fire made the place wonderfully cozy. View all feedback.
What Tikkapup25 dislikes about The Grampus Inn:
Sunday roast absolutely awful. The driest scrag ends of chicken I’ve ever eaten and the rest of the meal was no better. Cold gravy. Cold pub. Cold atmosphere will not be returning View all feedback.

Very oversubscribed because there is no competition for miles, Trying to pack too much in to a pub that is not designed to accommodate. All tables reserved but still serving food that takes far too long to come and risks turfing people outside in the cold. Food was only a snack and was appalling, coke on draught made the drinks taste off. Certainly not designed to have an open mic session as well as people eating on reserved tables. No space for musicians. Damn shame as could be a lovely atmosphere but no effort made to improve or accommodate. Perhaps more could be used of the outside space
A lovely hidden gem with great food and very friendly staff. We went for lunch a couple of times and also for drinks after going to the beach.
The restaurant offers delicious food and has a great atmosphere. I recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner. The outdoor seating area is also nice when the weather is good.
I simply cannot fathom how this restaurant is receiving positive reviews. After driving 25 minutes based on a recommendation, I found it to be disappointing in every aspect. The ambiance was lackluster and devoid of any music or warm welcome, making it difficult to enjoy a pleasant dining experience. The decor appeared neglected, taking the "rustic" theme too far without any appealing charm. The food, which was at best mediocre, was the most bland and uninspired meal I have had in a while. Furthermore, the long wait for our food only added to our dissatisfaction. In all honesty, this establishment desperately needs some nurturing, attention, and a complete overhaul.
