With long tables and metal chairs, the layout may not be the most convenient but is perfect for a relaxed dining experience. Customers can choose their meat from the front counter, specify how they want it cooked, and select a sauce and side dish. While there is no table service, the staff behind the counter are friendly and helpful, especially with accommodating large groups. The waitresses who bring out the food may be a bit confused at times, but the steak is excellent and cooked to perfection as requested. All the sides are also delicious. The restaurant features a bar and overall has a positive atmosphere.

Th... read more We walked in off the street to be welcomed and taken to the butcher's counter to have the process of ordering explained, not that it was a difficult process. The cuts of meat were a feast for the eyes, you select the piece you'd like, add the salads or vegetables to go with it and off it goes to be prepared.The restaurant has a cafe feel, is large and spacious, great for families, groups, couples or singles, and has a very casual atmosphere, but don't be misled - the meal is anything but casual.We chose eye fillet steaks and vegetables. Our steaks arrived, together with our chosen black pepper sauce on the side, and a separate generous portion of veggies.The steak was cooked medium rare - and was perfect. Don't think you're going to get soggy veggies just because they are sitting in a warming tray display at the counter - these were cooked just enough and were firm and very tasty.All the staff were extremely attentive, but not overly in your face, very friendly and welcoming. There's also a bar with a good choice of drinks.We approached the pass to thank the person who had cooked our steaks and chatted to the owner - who seems to know all about butchery and getting the best out of a piece of meat.We were in the area for a concert and stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for somewhere to eat - of all the eateries in Newtown this will probably be my first and only stop every time.
