This is the best small family restaurant in Newark! The staff was attentive, the decorations were impressive, and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the ham and bean soup with cornbread, and the beans were seasoned perfectly, packed with plenty of ham. For dessert, I had the bread pudding with cream sauce, which was simply amazing—just perfect. I learned that it was a recipe that's been passed down for 100 years. My friends tried the pork chops, and they were exceptionally seasoned—so tender that you could cut them with a table knife. They also had the peanut butter cake for dessert and claimed it was the best cake they had ever tasted. The restaurant closes for a few months after New Year's, but I can't wait for it to reopen. I will definitely be back!
