It took us a while for someone to get us seated, even with a reservation. Then half an hour went by before we finally flagged down our waiter for water and to place our orders. Once we ordered, the food came out quickly. The portions are enormous, you could easily split an entire between two people. I wish they'd make normal portions and lower the prices. I thought the chicken marsala was salty and dry. My date liked his steak though and the kale soup was good. Overall there are better restaurants in the Ironbound though

Deserts and the fresh made coffee were the final touch on a great dinner. We will be back!

I always get the grilled octopus on the ro... read more We love Sol Mar and have been there multiple times. The staff are exceptional super nice and the food is outstanding. I always get the grilled octopus on the roof tile and although it said market price, it was less expensive than a lot of the entrées. One point I would make is that they try to give you cheese and sausage bread for the table and you think it’s free but they end up charging you for it. Not a lot of money but I think it’s a little bit sneaky. I’ve learned to say no thank you. And also it’s not that good. But our party of 10 had a wonderful time. Oh and the Sangria is awesome. We got red.

This time was very busy due to the New Year's Eve, so service was slower than the last time. Our dishes were very good and priced very reasonable.
