Was Albert W at Hell's Kitchen a mag?
The decor was striking, combining vintage charm with modern pin-up art. The owner has clearly invested a lot of thought into the details, including the creative names of the dishes and drinks, and there was even a nod to the NJ Devils hockey team. A talented bartender had crafted a stunning mosaic centerpiece currently for sale at $8,000. The bathroom was clean, which is always a bonus, and even the restaurant's flye... View all feedback.
What Desiree F dislikes about Hell's Kitchen:
I've been to this restaurant before, but this time, the first thing I noticed was a sign stating that the credit card machine was out of order. Because of that, I could only order drinks with the small amount of cash I had on hand. The bartender's service was just average. I was with a large group, and one of the girls ordered chicken nachos, but she found them unappetizing mainly because each chip had a big dollop o... View all feedback.
When our food arrived, it was indeed incorrect—my plate had only scrambled eggs and toast, while my boyfriend's order was complete. I returned mine and informed the waitress that it wasn't what I had ordered. She came back saying she thought I had only asked for scrambled eggs. I reminded her that I specifically ordered the Rise N Shine Mofo. It was astonishing how such a straightforward menu item could be misunderstood so drastically. Eventually, I received my correct order, but the trouble simply wasn't worth it. Our water was refilled only once, and we were left without drinks until we finished eating because the waitress didn't check on us again. I'm conflicted about how to rate this place. My instinct is to give it 1 star due to the disappointing service. However, the waitress did adjust the bill because of the mistake. While this could be a nice spot for drinks, I wouldn’t recommend ordering food here again. If I'm in town again, I might stop by for a drink instead.
The third concerning indication was the smell; the entire place had an odor reminiscent of a restroom, even though the actual bathrooms were surprisingly clean and new. The venue had a somewhat divey atmosphere, located in a basement, which contributed to a sketchy feeling. However, we were both quite hungry, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the tosta mista, a pressed ham and cheese sandwich, topped with a cheese that had an unusual flavor that I did not enjoy. The highlight of my meal was probably the generous side salad that accompanied it. My boyfriend chose the eggs benedict, which was unremarkable at best and didn't even look appealing. Since I probably won't be in this area at night, I can't see myself returning. It does seem like a decent place for drinks, but by drinks, I mean whatever beer is on tap. My boyfriend also ordered a Bloody Mary, but unfortunately, it was quite disappointing.

The bathroom was clean, which is always a bonus, and even the restaurant's flyers reflected high-quality design. If I lived in Newark, NJ, I would definitely return to this highly-rated bar and lounge, especially with burlesque shows on Thursdays! The service was a bit slow due to the crowd, but our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!
They also offer a spicy Bloody Mary, which is one of my favorites. The drink prices are fair, and the beer selection, including rotating guest taps, is excellent. I haven’t tried the cocktails yet, but their drinks menu is extensive, so if you enjoy mixed drinks or stronger spirits, you'll definitely find something you like. If you're in the area during lunchtime, be sure to take advantage of their $7 lunch special. If I worked nearby, this would absolutely be my go-to lunch spot. Overall, I don't have much more to say—just visit Hell's Kitchen Lounge! You won't regret it!
