I've been to this restaurant before, but this time, the first thing I noticed was a sign stating that the credit card machine was out of order. Because of that, I could only order drinks with the small amount of cash I had on hand. The bartender's service was just average. I was with a large group, and one of the girls ordered chicken nachos, but she found them unappetizing mainly because each chip had a big dollop of sour cream on top. Overall, the dish didn't look very appealing.

When our food arrived, it was indeed incorrect—my plate had only scrambled eggs and toast, while my boyfriend's order was complete. I returned mine and informed the waitress that it wasn't what I had ordered. She came back saying she thought I had only asked for scrambled eggs. I reminded her that I specifically ordered the Rise N Shine Mofo. It was astonishing how such a straightforward menu item could be misunderstood so drastically. Eventually, I received my correct order, but the trouble simply wasn't worth it. Our water was refilled only once, and we were left without drinks until we finished eating because the waitress didn't check on us again. I'm conflicted about how to rate this place. My instinct is to give it 1 star due to the disappointing service. However, the waitress did adjust the bill because of the mistake. While this could be a nice spot for drinks, I wouldn’t recommend ordering food here again. If I'm in town again, I might stop by for a drink instead.

The menu features a good selection of bar food and entrees, though I can't say the food is my absolute favorite. However, it’s not bad by any means. Overall, I enjoy the ambiance enough that I could easily see myself becoming a regular here.

If you’re a fan of Banana Kings in Elizabeth, Union City, NYC, you’re going to really enjoy their sandwich. The bread is perfectly toasted—not too thick—and it has just the right amount of grilled chicken. It’s called the blackened chicken sandwich, and it packs a nice little spicy kick along with a generous helping of chicken. I added mayonnaise to mine for that extra Banana King flair! Haha. The sweet potatoes were outstanding too. This place has a cozy dive bar vibe reminiscent of Ironbound. I usually like to sip on a Lagunitas here. Plus, the prices are very reasonable!

The third concerning indication was the smell; the entire place had an odor reminiscent of a restroom, even though the actual bathrooms were surprisingly clean and new. The venue had a somewhat divey atmosphere, located in a basement, which contributed to a sketchy feeling. However, we were both quite hungry, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the tosta mista, a pressed ham and cheese sandwich, topped with a cheese that had an unusual flavor that I did not enjoy. The highlight of my meal was probably the generous side salad that accompanied it. My boyfriend chose the eggs benedict, which was unremarkable at best and didn't even look appealing. Since I probably won't be in this area at night, I can't see myself returning. It does seem like a decent place for drinks, but by drinks, I mean whatever beer is on tap. My boyfriend also ordered a Bloody Mary, but unfortunately, it was quite disappointing.
