What Mark S likes about Numero 28 Pizzeria - West Village:
We had the margherita pizza for an appetizer. It was excellent; crust was just right. I didn't hvae the caesar but the other diners enjoyed it even though the dressing looked lighter than the traditional caesar dressing; perhaps more sour cream than egg based? I am not sure. The main course pasta was phenomenal. It was house made jumbo rigatoni with veal ragu. It was so flavorful and very balanced. The slight additio... View all feedback. What Chris doesn't like about Numero 28 Pizzeria - West Village:
Food good BUT we were a family of 4 and my sons pizza was served 20 mins before the rest of us meaning he had finished before we started which was just wrong! Also not sure why 20 percent service charge included for ‘large party of 4’ Finally this is a cash only restaurant and ATM is in the restrooms!! View all feedback.

Pasta was moderate, pizza was good. the service was okay. They didn't know it was cash only in advance, but they have a cash machine on site.
I prefer to use credit cards. I don’t like the cash only.

read moreA visit to this restaurant offers a mix of experiences, from huge pizzas with a sweeter sauce to special gnocchi dishes. Some found the food a bit over salted, while others raved about the tangerine beer. The dining room ambiance was praised, although parking was a challenge. The menu may be limited, but the drinks were well-received. For some, the heat inside was a bit much, but the service was overall good. Visitors recommended sticking with certain dishes, like the burger or paccheri genovese. Despite mixed reviews, the overall consensus seems to be that it's a decent spot for a casual Italian meal, but remember to bring cash. And for some out-of-town guests, it became a favorite pizza spot that they planned their trip around.
Best pizza in New York, can definitely be compared to the best pizzas in Italy. Very friendly and professional staff, it is always s pleasure to come to 28.
Absolutely love love this restaurant. It feels like a family — the food was delicious and the service was outstanding. 1000% would recommend.
