What Michael Chen doesn't like about Hunan Bistro:
Ordered a general tso’s chicken for lunch. Couldn’t even eat most of it because the chicken meat was very dry and hard as a rock, indicating that the chicken was not fresh and has been refried over and over again. This is theft given the price for its quality. Stay away.Food: 1/5 View all feedback. What O V H likes about Hunan Bistro:
A great restaurant for tasty Chinese food. Great menu with lots of pics. The Dan Dan noodles ? here don't really come with much meat. Mainly just the oil sauce. Fried pork belly was great. Definitely a large helping. Serving sizes here are quite large! The atmosphere is modern but somehow very small.Food: 4/5 View all feedback.

read moreThis Hunan restaurant offers a mix of authentic and American Chinese dishes, with the Hunan cuisine standing out as the better option. Although some dishes like Scallion Pancakes and Green Pepper With Preserved Egg were enjoyed, others like Steamed Eggplant With Salted Egg Yolk fell short. The proteins in the main dishes were not of the best quality. Portion sizes were generous, but there are better options for Hunan food in the city. Customer reviews mention mixed experiences, with complaints about dry General Tso's chicken and Americanized flavors. Despite some drawbacks, the restaurant is praised for quick service, large portion sizes, and tasty Chinese food. The atmosphere is modern but on the small side. Overall, the reviews indicate that while the restaurant has its strengths, improvements could be made to certain dishes to make it a top choice for authentic Chinese cuisine.
Currently 3.5 stars, but I think I might it more if I had a chance to come back and try more dishes. Stumbled upon this place after the line at Han Dynasty
The best thing to do post-massage in East Village, is to EAT! We intended on eating at Han Dynasty, which unfortunately was jam-packed.
Food: This restaurant provides authentic spicy chinese food, so much better than the restaurant next-door (which seems more popular).
