The General Store - Nelson
The General Store
Description
At the General Store Restaurant, experiences vary widely. While some diners rave about exceptional dishes like the Bravos burger and delightful breakfast options, others report significant issues, including overpriced, mediocre meals and poor service. Reports of incorrect orders, cold food, and unprofessional staff interactions underscore a troubling trend. The charming ambiance, however, paired with the historical significance of the building, captures the attention of many guests. While some appreciate the friendly atmosphere and dedicated service, the inconsistency leaves others unwilling to return. Overall, this restaurant presents a dichotomy of exceptional moments overshadowed by disappointing experiences.

We really enjoyed the breakfast here. The avocado toast was delicious, and the mini pancakes were a perfect choice for the kids.
Don't be misled by the reviews; this place is fantastic! We visited to celebrate my friend Price Foulger's birthday, and he had a wonderful time. Seriously, go check Google!
Over the years, we've visited the General Store Restaurant at the Hume Hotel numerous times. It's clean, the staff is exceptionally friendly, and the food is fantastic—what more could you ask for? I really appreciate the historical significance of the building and how well it has been preserved. The highlight of my meal was definitely the crème brûlée. Be sure to stop by and experience it for yourself!
I visited this restaurant for lunch and we had a fantastic experience! We ordered the daily special and the Reuben sandwich, both of which were incredibly tasty. To cap off our meal, we tried the lemon meringue pie, and it was absolutely delicious! The service was prompt and friendly, and we also appreciated the charming decor inside. Don't forget to check out the history of the building printed on the back of the menu. Thank you, Daira!
