My server, Mark, was great. He clearly understood celiac worries and immediately offered to go, the kitchen have a dedicated pot oil for Jalapeno frit when I asked if they were a separate frit. I felt very safe after our conversation. The dishes and beverages were good in themselves (the frit and the "classical" Charcuterie board), and the gluten-free sourdough from a local bakery was a masterpiece in its own right.... What User doesn't like about The Black Cauldron:
It was nice enough we asked to sit outside and hoped to be on the back patio but were sat on the front instead with a good view of the alley. This wasn 't really the restaurant 's fault as we mentioned not wanting to be in too close confines due to COVID concerns. The drinks were stellar! The food was very lacklustre. The sourdough bread with the vegan mezze was tasteless, more like a supermarket French loaf than any... View all feedback.

I felt very safe after our conversation. The food and drinks were insanely good (the fritters and "the classic" charcuterie board), and the gluten free sourdough from a local bakery was a masterpiece in its own right. I had no issues whatsoever after eating here. We can't wait to make another trip up to Nelson just to eat here again.
The owner is celiac and is very knowledgeable about cross contamination. The food is delicious.

Enjoyed the drinks charcuterie and dessert board with 2 co-workers. This is the second time I have been to the Back Cauldron. I'd recommend it if you have plenty of time.
We had the valentines three course meal and it was fantastic, service was wonderful and over a great time. I'll definitely be back.
