Reviews summary

Nestled in a cozy corner, this restaurant garners mixed reviews from patrons. While some diners rave about the generous portions, friendly staff, and delicious breakfast options like skillets and waffles, others express disappointment over inconsistent food quality and high prices. Complaints about burnt pancakes, cold sausages, and rushed service cast a shadow over the experience. However, those who appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and dietary accommodations continue to visit, making it a beloved local eatery for many. As it stands, the restaurant seems to be a gamble—offering potential delight or discontent with each visit.

Absolutely fantastic food. I'm actually pretty bummed I live so far away because this is some of the best breakfast I've had in the state of Michigan. This is a must try breakfast spot if you're visiting or live locally!Dietary restrictions: Plenty of things to choose from for those with gluten sensitivities! View all feedback.

What Zachariah Bougie dislikes about Earl E. Byrds:

Do not go to this restaurant. Save yourself some money and time by cooking your own food at home. I spent $84 for 3 adults and 3 kids, and the pancakes were burnt, the bacon was dry, and the hash browns almost chipped my wife's tooth. The food was subpar and I felt sorry for the cook or the stove they used. The place is too small and overcrowded. I felt obligated to leave a $20 tip for both waitresses, but I will not... It's a cash grab trap, so do not bother going.

We absolutely adore this restaurant! We make it a point to visit every year during ice fest and it has become our go-to spot for breakfast. The food is outstanding and the staff are so friendly. Plus, they are very accommodating for dietary restrictions - the skillets can easily be customized for those on a low FODMAP diet.

I wanted to give this restaurant a 5-star rating as the decor and staff were lovely. However, our Mother's Day brunch experience was disappointing. My partner ordered Eggs Benedict, but the hollandaise sauce was too thick and lumpy, the Canadian bacon was missing, and the tomato was not fresh. The eggs were cooked perfectly, but the sausage on the side was cold. My partner did not enjoy his meal. I ordered the Grand Island omelet, which was decent, but the hash browns were supposed to be crispy and were instead soggy and undercooked. The coffee was the highlight of our meal. Hopefully, these issues are just temporary and will be resolved by our next visit.

Honestly, this was one of the worst breakfast experiences I have ever had. The food was extremely overpriced - $5 for a plate of slimy Johnsonville sausage breakfast and an extra $5 for a single small pancake. They also charged $6 for two glasses of milk. After taxes and tip, the total bill came to $50 for breakfast for two people. We felt rushed to eat and leave as the bill was thrown on our table just 3 minutes after finishing our meal. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

The staff is very friendly and attentive, the portions are great and the prices are lower than expected! I will definitely be returning. I highly recommend trying the waffle with a side of scrambled eggs!

Awesome diner breakfast. The pancakes my daughter had were the best I’ve ever tasted. Portions huge, we could have shared and still had leftovers. Definitely coming back next time we’re in town.
