The Greville Arms Hotel received mixed reviews, with some patrons praising the excellent staff, delicious food, and quaint ambiance, while others noted issues with cleanliness and value for money. The hotel's central location, friendly service, and charming Christmas decorations were highlighted. Despite some room maintenance concerns and high prices at the restaurant, most guests enjoyed their stay, especially during special events like the Fleadh Ceoil. Overall, the Greville Arms Hotel offers a mix of old-world charm, great service, and a lively atmosphere that makes it a popular choice in Mullingar.

Living locally we popped in for dinner 2 adults and one child. Service was excellent, all staff friendly and very attentive. We ordered one starter which we shared had a sirloin steak a kids meal and a hake. Everyone happy with the food. Garlic potatoes were a little strange as they just tasted of nutmeg and not garlic which seemed to be sprinkled all over the top, not to my taste. Fish and steak both well cooked. We had 3 cokes and finished with one grown up and one kids dessert. Bill was 103 euro. I felt the issue was the mains at 31 euro each, really not worth the money. Its a pity because the restaurant is a nice interior with friendly staff but I wouldn't come back and pay those prices with so many decent restaurants locally and mains much more reasonable. Food it 4 out of 5 but given the high prices I've rated it lower based on value.

Stayed in Mullingar on a Monday night and found most restaurants closed. Do they not need the business? Fortunately the James Joyce was open. We were shown to a great window seat, where we received courteous and friendly service. Food was excellent, the white and black pudding for starters, and rib eye steak for mains were outstanding. Compact and reasonably priced wine list, good pint of Smithwicks. Dinner for two with wine a good value 110 euros.

I always take the family out to dinner when I am home for a visit. We almost always go to Oscar's but since Covid, Oscar's is only take away. So I researched for an alternate. Some places were over 40E for Sunday lunch and since I was taking 11 people I was not too thrilled. We decided to try the Greville (James Joyce Restaurant) and we were extremely happy with it. The food was excellent (many different ordered and all were happy with theirs). And it was reasonable for us as well.
