Halligans - Mullingar
Halligans
Description
Tucked at the end of a strip mall, Halligan’s is a small, cozy Irish pub with friendly service, clean booths and a lively bar frequented by regulars. Solid pub classics — fish & chips, filet mignon sliders, patty melts, wings and standout short‑rib tacos — fuel popular wing nights and a strong happy hour. Food quality can be uneven and beers are on the pricey side; cash or ATM only. Still, its warm, casual atmosphere makes it a dependable local spot.

I ordered the Filet Mignon sliders, and they were absolutely delicious. My husband chose the tacos since we visited on Taco Tuesday, and he really enjoyed them. I would definitely recommend Halligans Public House to my friends.
The filet mignon sliders were rated 4/5; the meat was cooked to my preference, but in my opinion, there was just too much blue cheese. The patty melt also received a 4/5; I was surprised to find it served on white bread instead of a typical patty. As for the service, I’d give it a 4/5 as well. They didn't effectively communicate the side options available with each entrée or come by to refill our water, but they were still pleasant and prompt with serving our meals.
I recently started visiting this place for dinner, and I found the food and service to be excellent. The atmosphere is cozy, resembling a small pub with booths for added comfort. However, the bar area can get a bit noisy at times. The menu offers a great variety, ranging from burgers to more substantial entrees. I will definitely be returning!
I was in NY for work and found myself in Haverstraw at the end of a long day and needing to return to my hotel in Long Island. I really wanted a beer and some dinner before heading back. I got on Yelp! and found a spot I wanted to try. I 'm a sucker for Irish pubs and wasn 't disappointed. I came in with a coworker around 5 PM and we sat at the bar, ordered a local beer off the tap and put in order for some fish and chips. I was pleased with the service we received. It was what I expected for a local spot like this. By like this I mean that small spot on the end of a strip mall. It 'd be easy to miss this if you weren 't really looking for it. I also enjoyed overhearing some of the chatter from some locals who were seated together at the other end of the bar. I like finding those spots that have regulars! I gotta say, the fish and chips though were on point! At least for me. I live in Oklahoma, we 're not exactly known for our fish and chips. This to me though was what I wanted and was glad to have it, again, with a local beer on tap! Overall I had a nice experience and was happy with what I had for my trip back through NYC and onto LI. I 'm glad I popped in here! Enjoy!
