We ordered the Pizza LaVia Special Bianca and the Truffel Spaghetti, both super delicious, especially the spaghetti. We also highly recommand the Creme Brulee that came with fruits and chocolate sauce!
Yesterday was my first time there, for lunch, with two friends. One had the excellent clam and salmon pasta; the other had a wonderful tuna pasta. My sliced calf pasta with mushroom had a very good taste, but the meat pieces were too hard. Oh, its Bruschetta was great! I will go back to try the dinner menu
This is the first negative review I have had to write as I prefer to use Yelp and Trip Advisor to recommend places/services to others. However, I had such a negative experience at La Via that I feel it is necessary to share with others in hopes of preventing anyone from getting the same horrible treatment. I ordered the grilled branzino, and after waiting for over 1 hour when the restaurant was not busy, it was finally delivered. It smelled and tasted very fishy. I eat fish all the time and I am not particular about it, and in fact this is the first time I have had to send a dish back. I was so hungry after waiting for so long, but it smelled and tasted so bad that I was afraid to eat it. I apologetically told the waitress (who was very sweet) that I did not like it. She said she was so, so sorry and took it back to the kitchen. She asked if I wanted anything else, like a simple pasta that they could prepare quickly. I ordered a plain penne with tomato sauce to be safe. The pasta was just okay, quite plain but I suppose that is what I ordered and they were in a hurry at this point. I was shocked when I went to pay the bill and saw that I was charged for the pasta and the fish! I asked the nice waitress, and she said she was very sorry but the chef told her that the fish was not bad, it was my fault that I did not like it and therefore he said I had to pay for it. I have never heard of such a thing! I have worked in the restaurant business- even if you as the chef or server disagree with the customer's opinion, you do the courteous thing and do not charge for a meal not eaten. When I returned to the hotel (Zur Post) and told the woman at reception about this, she was very surprised. She said the chef at this restaurant is very good, but that he is not currently out of town so perhaps this is the problem. I hope that this was a unique experience and that this chef does not treat other customers this way. We all make mistakes, no big deal, it happens. Perhaps it was cooked correctly it was just a bad/old fish. Not his fault. Be a big enough human to drop the ego and be courteous to customers.
